Dear Mrs. Jones,

I am interested in the teaching position in your school district. I was made aware of this position through the
website. I am a 2002 graduate of Minneota Public. In the past ten years I have been a stay at home parent,
focusing on raising my three children. In their early elementary years, I homeschooled my two oldest girls.
They then entered school at Lincoln Elementary in Ivanhoe in the Fall of 2014 and in the Summer of 2015, I
started the process of finishing my degree in education at Dakota State University. It has been a long road, but
I believe with my educational background and strong curriculum development skills, I will deliver confidence,
passion and knowledge to enable each student to reach his or her full potential.

I have an anticipated graduation date of May 9, 2020 and will have my Bachelor of Science in K-8 Elementary
Education and K-12 Special Education with a PreK-12 Reading Minor and K-12 Technology Endorsement
from Dakota State University. While earning my bachelor's degree, I have had the opportunity to student-teach
fifth grade students and am currently spending half a semester with Special Education students in grades 4-6 at
Canby Elementary. Then I will spend the second half of the semester working with students in 7th-12th grades
in the Hendricks, MN school district. During this experience, I have been given the opportunity to develop
lesson plans and unit studies in Math, Language Arts, and Technology in both small and large group
instruction.

While in the fifth-grade classroom, I was given the opportunity to teach a novel study for the book Number the
Stars by Lois Lowry. I had so much fun reading, leading discussions, and doing a final book project with the
18 students in the class. While working with students, I took the time to recognize their various differences and
organized lesson plans that accommodated their individual learning styles. I also became increasingly aware of
my individual strengths such as being able to motivate students, integrate technology into the classroom, and
generate instructional activities that met students’ needs and interests.

Please consider my resume and completed application as a sincere intent of interest. I would greatly appreciate
the opportunity to meet with you to discuss further. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to
speaking with you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Lindsy Gratz
