Standard S1.E27: Jumping Rope


TK/K- Executes a single jump with self-turned rope.
1-Jumps forward or backward consecutively using a self-turned rope.
2- Jumps a self-turned rope consecutively forward and backward with a mature pattern.
3- Performs intermediate jump-rope skills (e.g. a variety of tricks, running in and out of a
long rope) for both long and short ropes.
4- Creates a jump-rope routine with either a short or long rope.
5- Creates a jump rope routine with a partner,using either a short or long rope.

I Can S1.E27- I can perform a variety of jump rope tricks.

Stretching In the menu section of this website, choose one stretching card to complete.

Warm-Up Run around your house 5x or jog in place for 1 minute.

Lesson Jump roping- Is a great skill for students to learn. We have worked on jump roping
previously, but it is something that takes a lot of practice. For students in TK-1st grade,
here is a video to help teach students how to jump rope, and also maintain what they
have learned.

Challenge:

Have students try to complete the list of jumps below:

TK/5: Goal is to get 5 jumps in a row

1st: Goal is to get 10 jumps in a row


Single bounce- one hop for every turn
Double bounce- two hops for every turn
Backwards- start with the jump rope in front of your body and turn the rope over your
head
Hop-jumping on just one foot at a time (start with right foot- jump 5 times then switch to
left foot)
Skier- jump side to side (small hops)
Bell- Jump forward and backwards (small hops)
Jogger- jog in place while turning the rope
Rocker- keep one foot in front at all times, shift weight forward and back as you turn the
rope

Closure Record in your activity log the physical activity you completed today. If you tried the
challenge, record your total number of strikes you completed in a row.
