Your Name Etymology Research Process
❏ Create a T-Chart and label each box with the appropriate headings (see
example on the next page):
Origin, Meaning, POV paragraph, Graphic, Assertion, GIST
❏ Read and skim reliable online or printed sources to collect key ideas
about your name’s unique etymology over time periods
❏ Evaluate the key ideas you want to include in your GSP and jot them
down
(google slides presentation- see slides layout below)
❏ Determine whether you will paraphrase (put ideas into your own
words) or quote the key ideas (remember to include quotation marks
around ideas taken directly from the text to give the author credit for
his/her words and add the author's name in parentheses following the
quote)
