01 Definition
Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) refers to the interface between a baseband board and
an RF module in a base station.

highways and railways Each hot backup ring only involves one RF module.
Each BBU has one CPRI link connecting to an RRU at a time. Each one of the two CPRI ports has a CPRI link
When this CPRI link becomes faulty, services are switched over and transmits identical user-plane data, leading to
to another link, providing higher reliability than a chain topology. higher reliability than a star topology.

1 CPRI MUX
CPRI Multiplex (CPRI MUX) enables multiple modes to use a CPRI port to transmit data.
Multimode RF modules are connected to a baseband processing/interface board of mode A through
CPRI links. Another baseband processing/interface board of mode B is connected to the previous
board through the BBU backplane and indirectly communicates with the multimode RF modules.
CPRI MUX reduces CPRI cable connections, and applies to all multimode base stations.
