1. Suppose there are two concentric metallic shells of radius a (inner) and b (outer), and these
shells are separated by a material with conductivity .
(i) If charge Q is contained in inner shell then calculate the current I flowing from inner
to outer shell.
(ii) If both the shells are maintained at voltage V then express Q in terms of V.

2. Suppose a thin conducting circular wire of radius r is placed in time dependent magnetic field
⃗ (𝑡) = 𝐵0 𝑒 −𝛼𝑡 𝑘̂, where B0 and are the positive constants. The plane of the
of strength 𝐵
wire is perpendicular to the magnetic field 𝐵⃗ (𝑡). Calculate the induced emf in wire.
3. Look at following figure where a conducting square loop of side ‘a’ is lying at a distance ‘s’
from a long straight wire which is carrying a steady current I.
(i) Find the magnetic field (B) and magnetic flux () passing through the loop. Will there
be any induced emf?
(ii) Suppose someone pulls the loop away from the straight wire at a speed ‘v’. Calculate
the induced emf. (Hint: induced emf = -d/dt and insert ds/dt = v).
(iii) Now suppose both the straight wire and the square loop are in steady state. Suppose
an alternating current 𝐼 = 𝐼0 cos(𝜔𝑡) is passing through the wire, then calculate
induced emf.

4. A test charge ‘q’ is moving in presence of both magnetic field 𝐵 ⃗ = 𝐵0 (𝑖̂ + 2𝑗̂ − 4𝑘̂) and an
electric field 𝐸⃗ with a velocity 𝑣 = 𝑣0 (3𝑖̂ − 𝑗̂ + 2𝑘̂). But at certain point the charge
experiences no force. Find the electric field at that certain point.
