Good Morning!

Thank you again for supporting our efforts to provide your students with additional academic support
through our small-group, Go Beyond! If you are receiving this email, you will have students missing
your class to attend group, and we wanted to provide you with important details. Some of you may have
received this same email when we ran our first round of group. All logistics are the same, but this time
we will be working with 8th grade students who are English Learners. Group will always be held on
Tuesdays. The first day of group will be October 29 and the last day will be December 10.

As of now, we have spoken to all 8th grade English Learner students who earned two or three D’s/F’s
on the first quarter progress report. Please note the list of students is confidential information. If you
would like more information on what we will be covering each week, please contact us and we will be
happy to provide you with the lesson plans. For your reference, we have included a copy of the weekly
schedule and list of students below.

We will be sending out call slips at the end of the period prior to the period the group meets. For
example, if you have a student missing Period 3, he/she will be called out at the end of Period 2.
Should you receive a call slip at the end of a period, please ensure your student receives it.
Additionally, we will keep track of the students who attended group and will provide the names to the
Attendance Office.

We will remind them that it is their responsibility to ask you about missing classwork/homework. We will
be tracking the students grades as reported on Aeries on a week-to-week basis. However, please note
that this is not a time for students to catch up on assignments, but rather learn the necessary skills to
be successful at school and beyond.

We would like to remind you that, although this is an academic support group, certain topics and
discussions may arise that are protected by confidentiality. Per our ethical guidelines, we will take the
necessary steps to keep the students safe and will not break confidentiality unless necessary.

We look forward to working with you and your students as we support them through this upcoming
school year! Go Blackhawks!
