Question 1. The Importance of employee placement in 5 sentences.

Ans:

Placement is the allocation of people to jobs. It is the assignment or re-assignment of an


employee to a new or different job. Placement includes initial assignment of new
employee and promotion, transfer, or demotion of present employee.

The importance of employee placement is given below:

1. It improves employee morale.


2. It helps in reducing absenteeism.
3. It helps in reducing employee turnover.
4. It helps in reducing accident rates.
5. It helps the employee to work as per the predetermined objectives of the organization.

Question 2. Advantages and disadvantages of Promotion, Transfer & Demotion.

Ans:

Promotion

It refers to upward movement of an employee from his current job position to another that
is higher is pay, responsibility and hierarchy within an organization.

Advantages

1. It inspires employees to compete and get ahead of others.


2. It enhances employee to use his knowledge and skills.
3. It encourages employees to remain loyal and committed to their jobs and the
organization.

Disadvantages

1. The employee might have to work for longer hours.


2. Detachment with coworkers.
3. Other employees might be demotivated.

Transfer

Transfer is a movement of the employee from one job to another job or some other place
without change in status, responsibilities and salary.

Advantages

1. It improves employee satisfaction and morale.


2. It reduces employee monotony boredom.
3. It improves employee skills.
4. It improves employer-employee relations.

Disadvantages

1. Some employees might be satisfied with their current job.


2. Some employees might not be mentally prepared to shift their job.
3. There might be adjustment problems of the employee to the new job, place,
environment, superior and colleagues.

Demotion

Demotion refers to the lowering down of the status, salary and responsibilities of an
employee.

Advantages

1. Job pressure will be reduced.


2. It is better to offer demotion rather than firing.

Disadvantages

1. The employee might be demotivated.


2. The employee might lose his/her value and in the organization.
3. The employee might resign due to reduced rank and salary.
