Please note this section applies only to the Optim Distributed platform. Optim Distributed has
Windows, Eclipse, and Web Browser based User Interfaces.
This section does not apply to Optim native z/OS (Optim with an ISPF green screen interface).
See the next major section of this document for information about Optim native z/OS license
enablement.
The following comments apply to the license enablement for the Optim Distributed platform
and the following products:
InfoSphere Optim Test Data Management (Optim TDM)
InfoSphere Optim Archive, also known as InfoSphere Optim Data Growth Solution, and
also InfoSphere Optim Application Retirement. These products will be referred to as
Optim Archive in this document.
InfoSphere Optim Data Privacy solution, also known as the TDM Data Masking Option.
These products will be referred to as Optim DP in this document.
The Optim Application solutions. Optim support for Oracle eBusiness, Oracle
PeopleSoft, Siebel, etc includes the core Optim products above. Note that release
numbering of these solutions does not necessarily align with the base/core Optim
release (11.3.0.4). The key question is what is the underlying level of the base/core
Optim release.
Optim Distributed 11.3 (the platform for all of the above products) has had its license
enablement enhanced at the fixpack 4 maintenance level (known as Optim 11.3 FP4 or
11.3.0.4).
The enhancement’s goal is to eliminate the previous requirement for license keys.
Previous to this enhancement it was necessary for each customer to contact Optim
development after purchasing Optim software. They had to request a license key, which was
used during Optim installation and customization. Here is an example of the previous Optim
license key. (This one happens to be an expired temporary license key):
Company Name: Optim Customer
Company ID: 162743
Password: 9SUFJ6
License Key: 8Z3WAC-UJPAYM-M631EJ-CLH6EM-HCOVGR
What’s changed: at the Optim 11.3.0.4 level and later, every Optim product is shipped with the
entitlement parts (also called entitlement files or license files) which are appropriate for that
product.
(To repeat, this change does not include ODM and Optim Connect, which were discussed in the
first major section of this document.)
With the license enablement enhancements of Optim 11.3.0.4, here are the choices for
enabling Optim Distributed:
A. If the customer has Optim Distributed 11.3 at the FP4 maintenance level or later, and they
have a previously issued Optim permanent or temporary license key, Optim will continue to
use that license key at the 11.3 release level without need for changes. Of course, a
temporary license key will expire on schedule.
B. If the customer has a new Optim Distributed 11.3 at the FP4 maintenance level or later, or
if they have Optim 11.3 F4 or later and an expiring temporary license key, they can use the
new license entitlement parts.
At the Optim 11.3 FP4 and later levels, there are entitlement parts (entitlement files), one
file each for Optim TDM, Archive, and Data Privacy.
To obtain the Optim 11.3.0.4 and later license entitlement file(s), there are three cases:
1. If the customer ordered InfoSphere Optim solutions that are delivered by Passport
Advantage (PPA) then the customer will find that the license entitlement parts are currently
available as new parts in PPA, added to the existing product parts. The new Entitlement
part numbers are:
The customer will find that the appropriate entitlement parts have been added to what was
previously available for download. The customer should download one copy of any of the
three Entitlement parts to which they have access.
There are some Optim Solutions for which there is more than one Entitlement part. For
example, the product called InfoSphere Optim Test Data Management Enterprise Edition is
a bundle which includes entitlement for both Optim TDM and Optim Data Privacy. For that
product there will be two available Entitlement parts.
Also, some customers have purchased multiple Optim products. They may find that,
through different products, they can download multiple duplicate copies of the same
Entitlement part. There is no reason to download multiple copies of the same entitlement
part; only one copy of any particular Entitlement part needs to be downloaded.
2. If the customer ordered InfoSphere Optim solutions that access z/OS data and are z/OS
software, the new entitlement parts mentioned immediately above in (1) are delivered by
ShopZ instead of PPA.
Optim products with the words "for z/OS" in their name are z/OS software. Optim for z/OS
software products can also be identified because they have a Product ID (PID) that starts
with 5655. For example, the product with PID 5655-O21 is z/OS software, and is delivered
by ShopZ.
The “for z/OS” customer should search for and download their Entitlement part(s) from PPA.
3. If the customer has both PPA and ShopZ Optim software, then they can download the
entitlement parts from either source. It may be more convenient to check for entitlement
parts on PPA first. It may be that this provides them with all the entitlement parts they
need.
The three Entitlement parts each contain three different Entitlement Files. They are:
Any file the customer obtains in their entitlement parts should be copied to the rt/bin
directory of Optim. To repeat a point mentioned above: the customer may have multiple
sources for the same Entitlement File; it is only necessary to place one copy of a given file
in the Optim rt/bin directory.
Once the file(s) are copied, the user can (re) start Optim 11.3 FP4 or later. The entitled
functions will be enabled permanently.
C. If the customer has Optim Distributed prior to Optim 11.3 FP4, then there are two cases:
a. They may have a permanent license key. This license key will continue to work
without need for change or recontacting Optim.
b. If they need a core Optim license key, and they should email optkeys@us.ibm.com.
Typical cases where a temporary license key would be needed include new orders of
older Optim software, or the expiration of an existing temporary license key.
· Note: the customer may need to fill out the usual old Optim license key request
form. If they have an expiring key, and they already got a temp key before from
OptKeys, and Optim development has the previous info on record, then may be able
to simply issue a new temp key with a later expiration date. If the customer got a
previous temp key outside of the optkeys@us.ibm.com process (like maybe Optim
support gave them a key before) then they will have to go through the process of
giving Optim development proof of entitlement info.
