Detailed lesson plan in Science 1

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. Describe the Earth’s surface
2. Demonstrate the different landforms found on Earth
3. Appreciate the significance of different landforms found on Earth

II. Subject matter

1. Topic: Earth’s Surface “Landforms”
2. Reference: Science in Focus 1 pg. 338-346
3. Materials: video clip, powerpoint, cartolina, pictures, marker and activity
sheet.
4. Values: Cooperation

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

1. Preliminary Activities ( 3 minutes)

planet do we live?
We live in the planet Earth.
Very Good!

Where do you found the Earth?

The Earth is found in the outer space.
Correct!

And what do you call to the place where

other planets were found like the Sun and the
Earth belong in the same space? Teacher it is called solar system.

Excellent!

Since you really understand our last lesson.

Now let’s move on to our next topic.

b. Motivation
 I have here a video presentation but

a. Presentation
 Ok children what can you tell about
the video you have watched?
Answer vary
 I have here a picture of the Earth,
what can you say about the Earth’s
surface?

The picture of the earth shows different

Children this colors represent the different

parts of the Earth.

land
air
water

The green represent the land part which is

also known as the lithosphere.
The blue is the water part of the Earth and
the the white represents the air surrounding
the Earth.

Now you will get to know more about the

different landforms found on the Earth’s
surface.
Now we are going to play memory game.
But before we proceed here are some rules
you should remember:
 Raise your hand if you want to
answer
 No coaching
 Keep quiet and wait for your turn
THE RULES FOR PLAYING
"MEMORY"

1. Turn over any two cards.

2. If the two cards match, keep
them.
3. If they don't match, turn them
back over.
4. Remember what was on each
card and where it was.
5. Watch and remember during the
other player's turn.
6. The game is over when all the
cards have been matched.
7. The player with the most
matches wins.

b. Discussion

One- third of the earth is covered with land.

There are different landforms on Earth.
Landform is any formation of rocks and
soil.
Here are some of them:

A mountain is the tallest landform. Its shape

is like a cone and has a wide bottom. It also
has a pointed tip called a peak.

A volcano is a type of mountain, instead of

a peak, it has a crater. A crater is an opening
where lava or molten rocks come out when a
volcano erupts.

Hills are another kind of landform. Hills are

tall but lower than mountains. It is usually
covered with grass and other plants also
grow on hills.

Some landforms are low or flat. A valley is

an example of a flat landform. A valley is a
flat land between mountains or hills. It is a
good place for growing crops.

Another flat landform is plain. Plains are flat

lands usually meet bodies of water. There
are two kinds of plains the coastal and river.

A plain that meets seas is called coastal

plain.

.
A plain that meets rivers are called river
plains.

Yes teacher!
Children did you understand?

4. After the lesson ( 17 minutes )

a. Guided practice
I have here pictures of different
landforms found here in the Philippines.
Pick one picture and put it on the map
and search the place where you can find
these landforms. Yes teacher!
Did you understand?

Any volunteer?
Now that we know different places where Take care different landforms
we find different landforms. What will you Keep it clean
do to keep these landforms beautiful?

Alright ,we should take care our God’s

creation by keeping it clean. It takes
years for these landforms to form, but it
only takes a few hours to destroy them.
Destroying landforms is destroying God’s
creation.

b. Group Activity
 Now we will having a group activity, I
will divide you according to the color
of the paper you will see under your
chair,
 let the pupils see what color of paper
attached under their chair.
