Assignment

Name: Ali

The most terrifying moment of my life:

 Description:
The worst day of my life started on June 29, 2015.
This is the day I found out my mom had been diagnosed with
breast cancer. That day was all a funk to me. At the time, I didn 't
know how to handle any of it. I had so much on my mind, like if
school would be any different, or would my friends talk to me
different? I didn’t want any sympathy because it would just bring
all the thoughts of bad things happening to my mom buzz around
my head. I think cancer in a family member 's life can make life
very difficult, but it can also open your eyes and make a person
value life more.

 Feelings:
Took a glance around and found myself looking right into
a pair of dark, glassy eyes peering at me through the bushes. I
knew I was not seeing things at that moment. Were those the evil
eyes of a goblin lurking waiting for it’s next meal? My breath
became too rapid for me to be able to whistle. I took a big gulp
and decided to step on it and quicken my pace.

 Evaluation:
Everyone has a bad day from time to time. There are
bad days and then there are really bad days. Being an adult is
overrated. When we’re kids we cannot wait to grow up and make
our own rules, be in charge of our own lifestyle. While this sounds
Assignment
wonderful when we’re young, as we get older and venture into
adulthood, we find out quickly that adulthood isn’t as easy as we
had thought. If you’ve been experiencing really bad days lately, I
want to get you to stop focusing on the bad. Today I’m sharing
lessons you can learn from a really bad day.

 Analysis:
Identify the competitors sharing the same arena as you.
Break your competitors into three groups: primary competitors
are the direct competitors to your same audience, sharing a
similar product or service; secondary competitors offer a high- or
low-end version of what you offer, or offer a similar product or
service to a different audience than you target; tertiary
competitors are those only tangentially related to your business.
They could still be useful as potential partners — or potential
threats if they pivot.

 Conclusion:

On those days, my subconscious makes me reach for the laptop

and punch the keyboard to level off the pressure. It works for
me. And apparently it works for others too.

Psychologists recognise writing as an effective way to combat

depression. It allows you to contain the real issues and to
take control over them. It also allows you to shift your
viewpoint. For me, it is a way to figure out how I may have
contributed to the problem. It brings objectivity and takes
away the emotional bias.
Assignment
Writing helps me to be creative or put myself in problem solving
mode (a topic for another article, maybe), allowing thoughts to
connect with each other and putting my brain into a state of flow.
But I also write to find peace, to cool off. To download the
frustration, put it in a box and kick it. I gain balance through the
writing process.

 Action plain:

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you
made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t
even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing
is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the
same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all
about.” — Haruki Murakami

Don’t complain about how terrible your life is. It is tempting

to do so, but stressing out won’t make you feel any better. If
you search for the lesson in your present struggle, you’ll be
able to make positive changes that would prevent similar
situations in the future.
