2 Design description

The main rotary gate 4,0 – 5,6 – 74,0.

The gate has welded design. Span structure consists of two crossbars with compound I-
shaped cross-section, the stringers, the supporting girders, the diagrams, the lining, upper and bottom
bindings.
The lining is arranged at the pressure side and supported by means of the stringers. Internal
radius of the lining is R = 9,6 m. The lining centre of curvature coincides with rotation axis of the
gate.
The gate legs are straight, double-branched, having a compound I-shaped cross-section, and
welded to the crossbar bands of the span structure. Leg stiffness is ensured by angle braces made as
welded I-shaped section. The legs are coupled with movable parts of hinged supports by means of
bolts.
The gate upper horizontal and vertical sealing is carried out by means of specially-profiled
rubber type VIIа; bottom horizontal sealing made of rubber strips.
Hold-down bars and stainless steel bolts are employed to fasten the sealing to the gate.
The gate lateral motions in the span are limited by means of end wheels on the stainless
steel spindles.
The wheel bushes are made of bronze, with in-pressed inert lubricant (manufactured by “Inn
Log”, Germany).
To disconnect the gate from the hydraulic cylinder rod, the gate is to be preliminary
installed on the stationary pulled-out pickup.
Operations with the gate should be performed under a head, using hydraulic drive with load
capacity 200 t, by means of single point.
625359RR

To ensure gate lowering on the threshold under its own weight, steel cast ballast is
employed and fastened to the gate metal structure with the help of studs.

fundamentals. [B.1]

The following materials are employed in the gate design (manufactured in China):
– metal structures – steel Q345B GOST 1591-94;
– axle of suspension assembly  steel 2Cr13 GB 1220-92 Forged piece Gr. V КП441
GOST 8479-70;

– sealings:
– lateral and upper horizontal – specially-profiled rubber (type VIIa);
– featheredge seal  rubber gasket;
– seals fastening  steel 2Cr13 GB 1220-92;
– embedded parts  steel Q235B GB 700-88;
– welding joints  welding wire ER70S-6 AWS A5.18-93.

Materials are accepted in accordance with the letter NARIME № 0712/NCCK-TMT dated
23.04.2012.

Permissible stresses for the main metal are stated in Table 1.

Permissible stresses in the welding joints for thickness above 16 and up to 35 inclusive:

– welding joints with complete fusion:  τ1  =0,8 ∙  σ И  = 0,8 ∙ 163 = 130 MPa,

– welding joints with incomplete fusion:  τ 2  =0,55 ∙  σ И  = 0,55 ∙ 163 = 90 MPa.

625359RR

Permissible stresses in the welding joints for sheet thickness 40 mm:

– welding joints with complete fusion:  τ 3  =0,8 ∙  σ И  = 0,8 ∙ 148 = 118 MPa,
1114СО1Т

– welding joints with incomplete fusion:  τ 4  =0,55 ∙  σ И  = 0,55 ∙ 148 = 81 MPa.
