80 4521 ‐ Primer for Xpression Decals on Polyproylene (PP)
Application: The Primer 80 4521 was developed with the aim of being able to apply Xpression
decals to Polypropylen (PP).
When using this additive certain processing instructions must be observed.
Printing properties: Just before application of the decal the 80 4521 is applied to the decoration area
as a very thin layer using a sponge or brush.
80 4521 need to be dried completely within approx. 20 sec.. Zurück bleibt a thin
glossy but transparent layer. The decals are then applied to this treated area using
a squeegee, carefully removing all water beneath the decal. It is essential to then
wipe down the decorated surface, to prevent permanent residues which may form
from the primer. Afterwards, the decorated articles are dried for at least 60
minutes at 40 °C or for 24 hours at room temperature before the coating on top of
the decal (strippable coating 80 2039) is removed completely.
Drying: ‐ ‐
Application errors: Even if 80 4521 has been used, the printing of the 2C‐ Protective Coat 80 4552 can
not be avoided in order to ensure the Stripable Coat 80 2039 can be removed.
Before application of the decal the surface of the substrate must be clean by using
a non aggressive cleaner like alcohol or water.
The decals have to be pressed firmly with a rubber squeegee.
In order to ensure that Strippable Coat 80 2039 can be removed from the
decorative decal, the decal must be thoroughly dried. The safest method is to dry
overnight in a ventilated wicket dryer.
After removal of the strippable coating, the cleaning step can be repeated before
thermal curing, in order to remove all traces of the additive.
Thermal curing: Decals applied with the Primer 80 4521 have to be cured at 60°C for approx. 40 min.
Storage: 80 4521 be stored in a dry place at room temperature (15‐25 °C). Always seal
opened drums carefully, making sure they are airtight if possible, as the contents of
opened drums react with the humidity.
We can only guarantee a minimum shelf‐life of 1 year for unopened original drums.
Environment: Waste material treatment, environmental health and safety protection has to
follow the local regulations and legislation.
