1. Integrity Initiative Campaign

1. The Integrity Initiative Campaign was established during 2010, It is a private sector
led campaign which really aims to strengthen the ethical standards in business, this
was organized by the Makati Business Club (MCB) and the European Chamber of
Commerce of the Philippines.
2. The establishment of this Initiative seeks to institutionalize the integrity standards of
different sectors of the society like business, government, judiciary, academe, youth,
civil society, church and media. This also aims to lessen the corruption in our
country. Because as we can see, the corruption here is very rampant in our society
nowadays and it affects the humanity and it hinders for the development of our
country.
3. This Integrity Initiative Campaign also aims to build trust in the government. If the
various sectors are working ethically and with integrity. The corruption and other
unethical practices will be reduced. Therefore, there will be more investors that will
be willing to invest in our country because of the good reputation that is being
established.
2. What are some of the means by which corruption could be reduced if not totally
eliminated in the Philippines?
4. In my opinion, to reduce the corruption in our country we should start in instilling to
everyone the value of Honesty and Integrity, If everyone has these attributes there
will be less corrupt officials. We should also improve our tax system, I suggest it
would be better to process tax payments online because this will not only lessen the
hassle in filing and processing the Income Tax Return but this will also lessen the
“kindness among friends” and bribery just to lessen the tax payments . Furthermore,
It will also be better if we conduct regular surprise examination of governmental
offices, to see if they are doing their jobs effectively and if they are working for the
hours that the government is paying them. Lastly, I believe that everyone should be
vigilant of the corruption and we should not only be vigilant but we should do an
action to reduce corruption.
3. Describe an ethical dilemma. How does a person resolve an ethical dilemma?
5. An ethical dilemma is a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between
two courses of action, either of which entails transgressing a moral principle. An
ethical dilemma involves conflicting moral requirement.
6. A person resolves an ethical dilemma by getting the relevant facts which could help
in making a decision. Then with the facts obtained, he should identify the ethical
issue that is present on the problem. Then with the ethical issue, he should
determine who will be affected by the outcome of the alternative and how are
they going to be affected by the outcome. Then, the person should identify the
alternatives available to the person who must resolve the dilemma and after this he
should identify the consequences of the alternatives and lastly, the person should

make a decision. By following this steps, the person could resolve the dilemma
appropriately.
4. Discuss how over-persuasion becomes unethical?
-Generally, persuasion is not bad and it is necessary in selling the products or for
marketing purposes. Persuasion is good if it is for the sole benefit of the person like
getting a health insurance policy to provide insurance for the person in case of any
health emergency. However, Over-persuasion becomes unethical when the business is
not considering the interest of the buyer. When they only think of the profit they may
obtain from selling their products or services. For example, when a sales agent
convinces a person to buy a product that the customer does not really need. and when
a sales agent sells beauty products and she persuades the customer that this product is
beautiful and best suits to her even it is not.
5. Explain the economic impact of observing business ethics. What is the impact of business
ethics to society in general?
- The economic impact of observing business ethics is it will bring positive impact on
the economy of our country, because if all businesses will exercise proper business
ethics. Then, they may pay their employees fairly and provide benefits to them, With
this, the employees performance may be improved and with this they may be able to
help their families as well as the society. Another economic impact is if businesses
are following business ethics they are going to pay proper taxes to help the
development of our country and also there will be less of corrupt practices.
Furthermore, the impact of business ethics in society in general, it creates social order
and social stability, If all are following business ethics, our society will develop to its
fullest potentials and our nation will be progressive.
6. Enumerate and explain at least five (5) characteristics and values associated with ethical
behavior?
- Accountability- Every person should be accountable, they should be willing to
accept the responsibility of their decisions and doings. For example, if a mining
business extracted resources from the mining site they should be accountable for the
restoration of the mining site.
- Fairness and Openness- In doing business we should be fair and open minded in
dealing with individuals. We should be willing to accept our errors and be adaptive to
change this to a better one. We should be open for new ideas that can help in
developing the business.
- Caring for others- As business individuals, we should care for others. We should
think of their interest. We should not only focus on obtaining profits but we should
consider others in doing business. For example, due to COVID-19 face masks and
alcohol where overpriced and the value of caring for others is missing.
- Responsible Citizenship- We should be a responsible citizen, we should obey all
laws and regulations imposed by the society. If some of the laws are unjust, we
should openly protest. As a responsible citizen we should exercise our rights and

privilege like voting. new should vote the right persons, Lastly, to be a responsible
citizen, you should actively participate in the society. we should help one another for
the betterment of our society.
- Trustworthy and Promise keeping- As a professional, we should be trustworthy
and we should keep our promises for ourselves only. For example when dealing with
private matters we should not disclose this to everyone because these are confidential
topics and we should keep this to ourselves only. Once a person is trustworthy, It is
more easy to share and to work with this person,
