Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This activity is a fun and interactive lesson for every student. The students will be using iPads to select their
answers and the teacher will be using the classroom SmartBoard to display the questions. This lesson allows
the students to answer in an anonymous method because they do not have to use their real names and does
not display if they got the answer wrong for the class to see. The Kahoot format asks the question and then
displays the answer choices in bright, large colored boxes.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the students participating in the Kahoot, the unit on World War Two will have been taught.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Each student will be given an iPad for the activity. The students will go to Kahoot.it and type in the game
code. This will bring them into the activity. Once all the students are in the activity, the teacher will begin
allowing the questions to be asked. This activity will be a fun, interactive activity for the students to show
what they have learned and compete against each other. The Kahoot game will serve as a review for the
students before the World War Two Unit Test is given.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Kahoot will let the student know if they selected the correct answer immediately after each question. The
correct answer will be displayed before moving on to the next question.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
Once the students play the game, they will have a better understanding of what information will be asked of
them on the unit test and what information they need to review more.
How will the data be used?
The data will be used by allowing the teacher to know if multiple students are struggling to get the same
questions correct. The teacher may need to have a review with the students of that particular material or
adapt test questions accordingly. The students are able to use this data to have a better understanding of
what type of questions will be on the unit test and what questions they need to spend more time reviewing.
The data will give the students a better understanding of how prepared for the unit test they are.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I hope to learn how to make effective Kahoot activities that can be utilized in my classroom.
Reflective Practice: \
Once I created this lesson, I feel these type activities will help students reach their highest potential. This
activity utilizes current technologies that students are familiar with and use in their day-to-day lives. An
activity, like this one, gives the students a “break” from traditional learning activities and allows them friendly
competition among their peers.
