Wilmont’s Pharmacy is a ‘Weak-Matrix Type Organization’ due to the following:


1. Project Managers/Lead for IT systems, business operations, change management & security team.
2. Each of the above project manager coordinates with the Drone Tech manager but they already have their (non-project) tasks in the
organization.
3. The organization has functional roles with project managers hence, the weak-matrix type setup.
4. Due to the absence of a dedicated project manager, the organization is not a balanced matrix otherwise that would have been the case.
5. There is not a huge cost associated with the operations of the project part of Wilmont’s team.

DroneTech is a ‘Strong-Matrix Type Organization’ because the organization has a dedicated Project Manager to manage the project.
1. The project manager has a full-time role (highlighted in yellow in the matrix) and reports directly to the CEO of DroneTech.
2. The project manager is independent and will identify what modifications to the drone flight operations will be necessary and then
determine team members. He also coordinates with other project managers (Security, Change Management Team, Business
Operations) of Wilmont’s pharmacy to achieve the respective tasks.
3. The project manager has to look over the developing the contract between Wilmont’s and DroneTech.
4. The project is highly significant for DroneTech which serves as a norm for Strong-Matrix Type Organizations.
5. Cost of the project is high.
6. The project is unique.
7. The project manager will make his own estimate according to his project and report it to the CEO. The CEO asked to keep it under
$750,000.
