LIFT CONTROL SYSTEM

1. GENERAL

The lift speed, number of landings, type of operation and control system for the lift shall be as
indicated in the “Schedule of Equipment”.

2. CONTROL AND OPERATING SYSTEM

The lifts to be provided shall be as shown in the drawings and as specified.

Each lift shall be provided with “ACVVVF” control. Each group of the lifts shall be under
duplex selective collective operation.

3. HAND OPERATION

The control system shall be so arranged such that by switching the “AUTO/MANUAL”
selection switch to “Hand Operating” mode it shall be possible to remove the lift out of duplex
system and place the lift under Hand Operation.

The “Hand Operation” mode of operation is intended for maintenance and inspection purpose.
The car shall travel at the reduced speed under such mode by pressing constantly the “Up” or
“Down” buttons in the recessed cabinet on the car operating panel or the “Up” or “Down”
buttons on top of the car. By releasing the buttons, the car shall stop immediately irrespective
whether the car is level with a landing or not.

4. EMERGENCY OPERATION OF LIFTS IN THE EVENT OF POWER FAILURE

In the event of power failure or power interruption, the power supply to the lifts shall be
automatically switched over to the emergency supply and the lifts shall be brought to the
designated floor (Ground Floor) commencing from the Fire Lift. The lifts shall part there with
their doors remaining open until all the lifts have been brought down to the designated floor.
Thereafter the Fire Lift shall resume operation.

Once the normal power supply is restored, the supply to the lift shall automatically switched
back to the normal power supply and normal operation of the lift shall be restored
automatically.

5. EMERGENCY OPERATION OF LIFTS IN THE EVENT OF FIRE

In the event of a fire signal being received via the fire sensing wires, the lifts shall be brought
down to the designated floor and shall park with the door remaining open. The lifts shall be
rendered inoperative after they are brought to the designated floor. The operation of the
fireman switch shall cause the fire lift to operate in accordance to Clause 7 independence of
the emergency operations as described above.

6. EMERGENCY OPERATION OF LIFTS IN THE EVENT OF POWER FAILURE AND FIRE

In the event of power failure and fire, the operation of the lifts shall be in accordance to Clause
5 above, under the emergency supply.

7. FIRE LIFT

Each designated fire lift shall be provided with a fireman switch at the ground level house in a
glass-front box marked “FIRE SWITCH”. By operating the fireman switch, the fireman can
obtain the use of the lift without interference from the landing calls. The operation of the
fireman switch shall also remove the lift from group as well as selective controls.

The fireman switch shall be of the type which does not require a key for operation. It shall
comprise of two press buttons, clearly marked “ON” and “OFF” or a tumbler switch with such
markings. In case the press buttons are used, the press button shall remain pressed when
operated.

The fire lift shall revert to normal operation once the fireman switch is turned to “OFF” position.

8. LEVELING CONTROL

The lift car shall be fitted with automatic leveling devices which shall operate for both “over”
and “under” floor level regardless of the traveling direction.

The car shall be leveled within an accuracy of 5mm.
