Medusa playing cards are not just a deck, they are a powerful tool for all magicians and

mentalists. The deck comes in Mnemonica stack right out of the box, the cards are marked in
seven different ways that have been incorporated perfectly into the design in order to be
invisible to the spectator' s eyes. This is the Holy Grail of magic.
The Medusa seven marking systems work in "Memonica stack", the stack introduced by Juan
Tamariz and the most popular among magicians. On the back of each card you can read:

1) suit and value of the card

2) suit and value of the previous card
3) the card’s position in the deck
4) the number of previous figures
5) the number of previous red cards
6) the number of previous even cards
7) the value's addition of the previous cards

so from the seven markings you can know the following information:

• The deck is marked for value and suit.

• Each back also tells you what the previous card was.
• If a spectator cuts off a portion of cards, the top card tells you exactly how many cards he
is holding.
• You can tell how many court cards are in the spectator's pile.
• You can tell how many even and odd cards are in the spectator's pile.
• You can tell how many red and black cards are in the spectator’s pile.
• You can also tell the values' addition of the previous cards.
• Each card reveals its own position in the stack

You get the deck in “Mnemonica stack” right out of the box, you have only to take off the 8 of
spades duplicate and the double face card, after that you will be ready to start.
Tamariz's memorized deck stack,"Mnemonica", has become a legend with card magicians
throughout the world, that's why we decided to use it.
Before analyzing the markings in detail, we leave below the complete sequence that starts with
the 4 of clubs and finishes with the 9 of diamonds to take the deck back in order:
Now let’s start with the explanation of the marks, the best feature of these marking systems
compared to other marked decks is that they use a code that is very easy to read for those who
know the secret, but they are unreliable for the spectator, in addition we worked a lot on design
to make the marks as hidden as possible for those who do not know where to look. This is a
comparison between a marked card and an unmarked card plus a close up of a marked card that
we will use as an example to explain all the markings:
The first important thing that must be said about the markings is that all (except one) are
composed by a vertical part and a horizontal part. You have to read the vertical part from top to
bottom and the horizontal part from left to right. So six marks on seven can be read in the same
verse except for the value's addition of the previous cards that we will analyze last.

1) suit and value of the card, as an example to illustrate this

marking I will use the 5 of diamonds

This marking as you can see has a horizontal part composed by twelve snake heads divided
into two groups of six and a vertical part composed by four snake heads.
The horizontal part in the center reveals the value of the card and as said before you must
read it from left to right starting from the ace and ending with the queen, a modified snake
tongue reveals the value, if none of the tongues is stretched, it’ s the king.
The vertical part on the right side reveals the suit, you have to read it from top to bottom
starting from the spades to the diamonds:
2) suit and value of the previous card that in this case is the 10
of clubs.

This marking as you can see has a horizontal part composed of twelve snake heads divided into
two groups of six and a vertical part composed by four snake heads.

The horizontal high part reveals the value of the card and as said before you must read it from
left to right starting from the ace and ending with the queen, a modified snake tongue reveals
the value, if none of the tongues is stretched, it’ s the king.
The vertical part on the left side reveals the suit, you have to read it from top to bottom starting
from the spades to the diamonds.
3) the card’s position in the deck in this case 25

This marking as you can see has a horizontal part composed by five circles and a vertical part
composed by nine circles divided in three groups of three circles.
The marking is in the left corner, the horizontal part reveals the tens and the vertical part
reveals the units.
You have to read the horizontal part from left to right and a black smaller circle reveals the tens.
You have to read the vertical part from top to bottom and a black smaller circle reveals the
units.
If you don’t see a smaller black circle inside the horizontal or vertical part, it’s a 0.
4)the number of previous figures, in this case 4

This marking as you can see has a horizontal part composed by five circles and a vertical part
composed by nine circles divided in three groups of three circles.
The marking is in the right corner, the horizontal part reveals the tens and the vertical part
reveals the units.
You have to read the horizontal part from left to right and a black smaller circle reveals the tens.
You have to read the vertical part from top to bottom and a black smaller circle reveals the
units.
If you don’t see a smaller black circle inside the horizontal or vertical part, it’s a 0.
5) the number of previous red cards in this case 12

This marking as you can see has a horizontal part composed by two circles and a vertical part
composed by nine circles divided in three groups of three circles.
The marking is in the center on right side, the horizontal part reveals the tens and the vertical
part reveals the units.
You have to read the horizontal part from left to right and a black smaller circle reveals the tens.
You have to read the vertical part from top to bottom and a black smaller circle reveals the
units.
If you don’t see a smaller black circle inside the horizontal or vertical part, it’s a 0.
6)the number of previous even cards in this case

This marking as you can see has a horizontal part composed by two circles and a vertical part
composed by nine circles divided in three groups of three circles.
The marking is in the center on left side, the horizontal part reveals the tens and the vertical
part reveals the units.
You have to read the horizontal part from left to right and a black smaller circle reveals the tens.
You have to read the vertical part from top to bottom and a black smaller circle reveals the
units.
If you don’t see a smaller black circle inside the horizontal or vertical part, it’s a 0.
7)the value's addition of the previous cards in this case 151

This marking system is composed by three horizontal parts, two with nine snakes and one with
three snakes.
You have to read the horizontal parts from left to right.
Each row has a smaller snake which indicates in the first row starting from the top the units, in
the second the tens, in the third the hundreds.
