1. What constitutes the mission of Rapid-Lube?

Answer: Rapid-Lube provides car maintenance services to customers of the highest quality and fast with
precise division of tasks of employees at each stage of service.

2. How does the Rapid-Lube operations strategy provide a competitive advantage?

Answer: The choice of services that are more limited than its competitors provide flexibility in managing
capital and employees can also be more focused on doing their jobs. Employees who will come
face to face to serve customers get an education at Rapid-Lube University, to maximize the quality
of the company's HR.

Rapid-Lube has the characteristics of working teams with each task that is fixed and repetitive,
and with training and good work, instructions will make it easy to maintain quality service. Rapid-
lube provides detailed service processes at each stage. Customers who have just arrived and need
their services are immediately accepted by the service representative in order to know what to
do to get their car maintenance services in Rapid-Lube. The Rapid-Lube business involves very
little equipment. Because of that maintenance can be relatively easier. Also, the application of
the three-team system can continue to maintain the service process when there are obstacles in
one part of the task.

The placement of the Rapid-Lube station in an area near the settlement facilitates customer
access. Rapid-lube is very concerned about the cleanliness and design of the station starting from
the interior and exterior with white as its trademark. With the schedule determination strategy,
fluctuations in the number of repair requests can be managed properly. In this way, Rapid-Lube
can maintain good relations with customers.

3. Is it likely that Rapid-Lube has increased productivity over its more traditional competitors? Why? How would
we measure productivity in this industry?

Answer: The operation process on Rapid-Lube enables it to be more productive compared to its
excavators. This is because, the company's mission allows it to be more focused and provide
quality services that are cheaper than its competitors and the specialization of workers and work
facilities makes it more efficient. Productivity for this industry can be measured using the ratio of
the number of jobs completed per work hour, how many jobs can be completed by a worker in
units of work hours.
