Abstract On The Subject: SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

What is Solid Waste Mangement?

Waste Management is the collection, transport, processing, recycling or

disposal of waste materials. The term usually relates to materials produced by human
activity, and is generally undertaken to reduce their effect on health, the environment or
aesthetics

The globe we live in have two types of environments, one is natural

environment of air, soil, water, hills, trees (abiotic), etc., and the other one is plant,
animals (biotic), etc., which is to called social environment. Man has managed to create
comfortable habitat, using science and technology, religion and politics. In fact both the
environments are lively and lovely. But with comfort comes propagation, the biological
growth qualitative and quantitative, resulting in unhealthy by products, which are in the
form of solid, liquid and gaseous. Soon we find our paradise is transformed into inferno
by our own activities. This text is the story of such solid products. This paper brings in to
focus the waste management methods that can be adopted. Attempts have been made to
clear wastes by door to door collection method & also by some latest scientific methods.
Solid waste is the term used to describe non-liquid waste materials arising from domestic,
trade, commercial, agricultural, industrial activities and from public services. Waste
management is a global environmental issue which concerns about a very significant
problem in today’s world. It is better to segregate the waste at the initial stages when it is
generated, rather than going for a later option which is inconvenient and expensive. There
has to be appropriate planning for proper waste management by means of analysis of the
waste situation of the area. Solid waste management can be bifurcated into mainly two
phases. One is the waste management in the area where it is generated and second is the
management of waste at dumping grounds. This includes the issues related to the waste
generation, their storage, collection and removal from the collection points. There are
many drawbacks in the existing Waste Management System.

We are going to explain various types of cycles used for door to door collection,
of Solid Waste Management & also their application. They are listed below.
1) Road Side litter collection
2) Wheel borrow with Six Compartments
3) Storage bins Twin Unit - UV Stabilized Polythene Container
4) Storage bins with stands
5) Twin Unit Handcar:
6) Cycle Container carrier
7) Cycle Container Carrier with lid

We are going to describe some of the scientific methods that can be

implemented towards the Solid Waste Management in this paper. They are listed below.
1) Plasma Methods
2) yclone Melting System
3) Pyrolysis
4) Thermal Distillation
5) Incinerators
6) Vitrification
7) Infrared Oxidation
8) Stabilization/Fixation

The purpose of presenting this paper is only public awareness. We must set
our mind as the following statement:
Think Globally,but Work Locally
To solve this global problem of Solid Waste Management.
