Philosophy of Education

Kemal Ataturk. All professions are powerful, useful, in their own ways. However, being a

teacher is a special type of profession. Teachers teach students to be other professions.

Education is so important for several reasons. By providing students with a good

education, you give them the best gift in the world, the chance to become whatever they wish to

be. Education helps students decide what they like and dislike, and what they want to spend the

rest of their lives doing. Equal education is the most important of all. Each student should have

the same opportunity to succeed in life, despite their gender, sexuality, race, religion, or

economic status.

A teacher is so important when it comes to teaching. The type of teacher a student has

can determine what kind of experience they are going to have. If a teacher is rude, hostile, and

scary, a student will not enjoy the class. They will be scared to talk and learn and could dread

going to that class. However, if a teacher is encouraging, welcoming, and kind, students will not

be scared to try in their class in fail. Trial and error is how we learn, and I feel it is important that

students feel safe enough to try in my classroom, even if they do not always succeed at first, so

that their minds can grow. I also think it is important that parents find it easy and are comfortable

to reach out to the teacher if they have any questions pertaining to class.
 My motivation for teaching is to change lives. I have seen first-hand, through my family

members who are teachers, how a good teacher can change someone’s life. I think that teachers

have a bigger influence on their students than anyone realizes. My mom, who used to teach

history, has saved lives by encouraging others that they can succeed in whatever they put their

minds to in life. I want to be that teacher that my students feel comfortable coming to, for not

just schoolwork. I want to support all students, who are going through good times and bad. I

want to give every student the opportunity to succeed. My role as a teacher will be to help my

students with not just the curriculum, but to connect with each of them and provide them with a

connection between their lives and the lessons.

I think that having a classroom that is welcoming and comfortable is something that is

very important to me. I want the climate of my classroom to be happy and positive. I also think

that it is very important to not just have desks for kids to sit at. I plan on incorporating different

seating elements to my classroom to provide my students with more interesting ways to do their

work, besides just sitting in the same desk as usual. Couches, rugs, and bouncy chairs are all very

comfortable and fun places for kids to do their work and to keep them interested in what they are

doing. I also think that providing different learning styles and adapting to how your students

learn best is very important in a classroom, and something that I plan on doing in the future.

Education is something that is timeless and can take you far places. Having an education

is something that will always be valuable, and encouraging, welcoming, and hardworking

educators are always going to be needed. I am excited to embark on the journey towards

becoming a teacher, and to hopefully change lives for the better along the way.
