polymorphisms  of  human  DNA,  the  biology  of  STR  and  CODIS/ESS  markers,  calcula+on  of  
allele   frequencies,   lineage   markers,   genomic   and   phenotypic   variability,   informa+ve  
ancestral   markers,   capillary   electrophoresis,   PCR,   fluorescent   PCR,   mul+plex   PCR,   DNA  
quan+fica+on,  real-­‐+me  PCR,  use  and  func+on  of  the  allelic  ladder,  the  gene+c  profile,  
ar+facts  of  analysis,  the  mixed  DNA  profiles  and  their  resolu+on  ,  the  kinship/paternity  
tes+ng,  principles  of  probability  and  sta+s+cal  compu+ng.

I  compi+  scriY  hanno  domande  brevi.
Final   evalua+on   consists   of   wriTen   test   that   maybe   integrated   with   oral   examina+ons.  
The  wriTen  exam  can  be  replaced  with  two  in  i/nere  tests  during  the  course.
WriTen  tests  will  consist  of  ques+ons  with  short  answer.

Scopo  del  corso  è  quello  di  fornire  le  basi  per  la  formazione  di  gene+s+  forensi  in  grado  
di   applicare   ed   eseguire   gli   accertamen+   tecnici   necessari   durante   lo   svolgimento   di  
procedimen+   in   ambito   civile   e   penale,   impartendo   le   necessarie   competenze   tecnico-­‐
pra+che   che   consentono   l’esecuzione   responsabile   e   consapevole   delle   tecniche  
molecolari  d’indagine.

The  aim  of  the  course  is  to  provide  the  basis  for  the  training  of  forensic  gene+cists  will  
be  able  to  apply  and  perform  all  the  technical  inves+ga+ons,  also  providing  them  with  
the   essen+al   competencies   for   discussing   the   reports   at   the   courts   during   civil   or  
criminal   proceedings   giving   strong   hands-­‐on   skills   and   technical   exper+se,   which   is  
needed  in  all  the  inves+ga+ve  molecular  techniques  to  ensure  accurate  results  in  their  
prac+ces  and  improve  the  processes  by  which  accuracy  is  determined.
