Can you stay in the very presence of the Lord?

There were many people in Moses time questioning his work, his words, that he is not the only
one who can stand in the presence of God and hear His voice… there were many murmuring, many
commenting, eager to raise themselves to the same authority as Moses and to have such recognition as
him. But, BUT, none of them was chose to do that, and none of them was able to stay in God’s Holy
presence as Moses did… none of them had the same patience as Moses, none of them wanted so much to
please and obey God as he did.

We might wonder why Moses had this spiritual character that distinguished him from all the
others. We can not question Gods choice of intrusting Moses the responsibility of speaking to the people
in God’s behalf. It is Him who knows all things and makes them possible through the wisdom of His
council and through the power of His anointing. But, it was He that chose Moses and prepared him for
this great work of delivering the people from Egypt’s slavery and it was God the One who gave grace to
Moses to have such a relationship to Him.

The people that heard God’s voice giving them his commands, the very expression of God’s
character, is the people that said to Moses: “The LORD our God has shown us his glory and his majesty,
and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks
with them. 25 But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the
voice of the LORD our God any longer. 26 For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God
speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?” (Deuteronomy 5:24-26).

The reality is that they were not afraid of staying in the presence of God because of the voice and
glory of God, but because the glory of God revealed to them their sinfulness. They saw themselves open,
discovered, unprotected, worthy to be punished and die because of their daily life… God’s word
revealing their true nature that needed to be changed.

The New Testament speaks about this and says in Hebrews 12: 18-24: “ 18 You have not come to
a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; 19 to
a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further
word be spoken to them, 20 because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an
animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.”[c] 21 The sight was so terrifying that
Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.”[d]

  22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You
have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23 to the church of the
firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the
spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the
sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel”.

John says that: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his
glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
 This means that, yes, we can stay in the very presence of the Almighty God, through Jesus!
He is the way, the truth and the life. Nobody comes to the Father but by Him! If you want to
approach God today, it will be possible only through and because of Jesus! He is the mediator of the
new covenant, He is the One that shared Hid blood that sanctifies us in the eyes of the Holy God!
Repentance is the only way, His Name is the only One in whom we made righteous and wordy to
stay in His very presence! Praise Him! We still fear God, but we can approach Him with
confidence because of Jesus! We still give Him praise and we still bow before Him, but we are
conscious of His great love for us expressed in His Son that lifts away the sin of the world!

Get closer to Him today! Enjoy His very presence and be blessed by Him! Fear Him and obey Him!
Love Him and praise Him and speak about His wonders!
