Assignment 2.1

1.
Normal Distribution

Normal distribution curves are symmetric bell shape. In this mean, median

and mode are equal and are located the center of the distribution.A normal
distribution has only one mode. The curve is symmetric, it means right and
left portions are in distribution are equal .The total area under normal
distribution equal to 1.00 or 100%.

Negatively Skewed Distribution

Same in positive skewed one mean, median and mode are not equal in here.
(mode > median > mean). In statistics, negatively skewed distribution is a
type of distribution in which more values are contentated on right gide (tail)
while the left tail of the graph is longer.

Positively Skewed Distribution

In Positive skewed curves are the median and mean are not the same as is
the case with bell shape.Median is the smaller than the mean (mean >
median > mode). In here most values are clustered around the left tail of the
distribution is longer.

Bimodal Distribution

A data set is bimodal if it has two modes. This means that there is not a
single data value that occurs with the highest frequency.

J – Shaped Distribution

This is extremely a symmetrical in that the initial (or final) frequency group.
Contains the highest frequency with succeeding frequencies becoming
smaller (or larger).
Inverted U Shaped Distribution

The U shaped curve usually refers to the nonlinear relationship between two
variables, in particular, a dependent and an independent variable. U shaped
like the letter U, bent such that the two ends are parallel. Having cross section
similar in appearance to a broad U.

2. a) Number of classes – n = 40,

So, k = 6 because 26 = 64 ≥ 40

Class width - C = max - min / k

= 88 – 29/6
= 9.8
= class width is 10

Lower limit of the first class – L = min – [ { c * k (max – min) } /2 ]

= 29 – [ { 10 * 6 ( 88 – 29) } / 2 ]
= 28.5
= 29

Class (x) (f)

29-39 1
39-49 0
49-59 0
59-69 9
69-79 22
79-89 8
