Introduction

Every human being in this world has a necessity that needs to be satisfied. In order to live
in a demanding world, one must have a financial capacity that could answer for his necessities. to
answer for our needs. One must have a work or savings to cope up with the demands of life,
Having a job entitles a person to buy for his needs, to help his family, and if there is excess to
spend it for his desires. If everyone has a stable job, nobody will suffer from Poverty.

Last December 2019, a contagious virus has spread in the province of Wuhan in china,
This virus was first known as Novel Corona Virus until it was renamed Corona Virus Disease.
This disease came from a large family of virus that leads to illness causing such as middle East
Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). In
the span of three months it cause approximately of 11,417 deaths in the whole world. COVID is
now spreading its wings and causing lots of deaths and cases. (World Health Organization,
2020).

With the disease that the Corona Virus brought it cause a public threat in the health of
everyone. With this, last March 15, 2020. His Excellency Pres. Rodrigo Duterte declared the
lockdown of the Metro Manila in order to prevent the spread of the virus. In addition, he also
declared Enhanced Community quarantine in the whole Luzon Area last March 18, 2020. With
the declaration of enhance community quarantine. Filipino’s were advised to have a self-
quarantine at their respective houses and they were prevented to roam around at public places. In
connection with this, Business Establishments and some job especially those who are not aligned
with the health and basic necessity sector were asked to temporarily close their business for
prevention purposes. With this, there are Filipinos who are jobless right now. If they do not have
jobs, they will not be able to provide for their basic needs and may also cause poverty and
hunger. (Aspinwall,2020)
Statement of the Problem

This study aims to answer the following questions;

1. What are the effects of Corona Virus Disease in terms of;

a. Businesses and Jobs

c. Economic Development

2. What are the possible solutions for those effects aforementioned?

The fast spread of the virus brings threats to everyone and causes panics and also and this
also challenges the preparedness of the government and every individuals in any event like this.
Generally; this study is about the effects of corona virus to; Businesses and Jobs, Health, and
Economic Development. Furthermore, this study also looks for the possible solutions to the
effects mentioned.

According to BizHumanRights, the implementation of community lockdown policies


leads to massive losses of jobs and also the shutting down of business operations. With this,
employees and business stops to earn money. When they are not working, they could not be able
to provide the needs of their families. In the short run, we may not see its impact to businesses
and employees as well. However in the long run, the effects will be manifested through poverty.
In this closure the main groups who will suffer are those who are jobless and also the small
businesses.

In connection, according to studies people perceived the COVID-19 as an economic


crisis rather than a health problem. The corona virus disease has a negative impact to the
economic development of the country because it hinders the progress, due to the virus.
Establishments were forced to close and some companies has lose investors, also the stock prices
in the market of shares of stock has also fall. This is because of the danger that the COVID 19
has brought, in a larger perspective; it affects the overall health of the economy, since there are
no jobs. The country seems to have incurred more expenditures than revenues this season.

In order to lessen the impact of this corona virus to business and jobs and Economic
Development, according to Panap.net, the government should provide assistance to those low
wage earners, farmers, and those employees who were jobless right now. The site also suggest
that the government should lessen the tax obligations of other businesses who were affected by
the shutdown. On the other hand, to provide for their basic necessities, the government should
prioritize equal distribution of foods and basic necessities. so that, they can still come up with the
demands of the society. For the economic development, the site suggested to the government to
encourage online businesses so that we the economy can also cope up.

In conclusion, the corona virus disease has already spread its danger to various countries
in the world. Corona virus is not just a threat to the health of everyone. With this study, the
researcher found out that the corona virus and its lockdown declaration of the president has a
negative impact to business and jobs, which gives unemployment and also people will not earn
money to provide for their daily needs in life. Also, this has also a big impact in the economic
development. Due to the lockdown, lot of people have only optimal amount of cash that is only
available for days or week. But they do not have lots of cash to provide the needs of their
families. Market prices of stocks and Investment activities in the country is also affected by the
lock down due to corona virus, with this, we can see the downfall of the global economy in the
long run. The study also researched for the possible solutions which are; the government should
provide foods to everyone and also adjust their tax liabilities and also it is suggested that to
further continue business. Government should encourage online businesses. To finally end this,
the corona virus disease is so fast to infect everyone. In this situation, we should act as one and
also we should help our country rise again from ashes.
