Use a passphrase manager like LastPass, 1Password (Canadian), Bitwarden (Open Source)
Passphrase Manager
 Advantages
1. Easy to create and use long, random, complex passwords.
2. Making it easy to change your passwords.
3. Encrypting all your personal data through a good password manager in case of being hacked
4. Keeping you up to date with the latest breaches and advising you if any accounts may have been
affected/hacked.
 Disadvantages
1. If master password gets lost or hacked, all passwords get dangerous.
2. Password manager programs are a target for hackers.
3. Not easy to log in using multiple devices.

Diceware and other strategies can be used to generate long passphrases and/or random answers to
security questions.

 Advantages
1. You can create many password from a word list for many sites.
2. Passphrases are easier to remember than a random of symbols and letters combined together.
 Disadvantages
1. Advances in technology can now crack the password more easily.
2. Forgetting to sign out could allow someone access to all accounts

I already have a User ID and Passwordphrase! Sign on with Google or Facebook or bank credentials
rather than having an account for each website. This is also known as Single Sign On.
Use single sign on where possible
 Advantages
1. Easy to implement and connect to new data sources
2. Reduces the load of memorizing several passwords
 Disadvantages
1. Google and Facebook know the other sites you use. The site requires access to your account
information on Google or Facebook. That’s why Using a single password increases the chances of
password vulnerability

What method(s) do you use to safeguard your digital life?
Use a Passphrase manager.
Why is that (or why will that be) the best method for you?
 The Phrase password security is the best method. If I don't forget the master password, the Phrase
password has almost no drawbacks.
Why won't you use other methods?
 The other method has too many shortcomings, for example, Single sign on method is too
vulnerable to security. If I use Single sign on, I'm going to suffer from a lot of spam calls and messages.

 I believe that we are paying for websites with our privacy and our personal information. It has
become very easy for any company to get information from users through websites by offering free
content in exchange for personal data. The personal data that a company extracts are often used for
advertising, which provides profit for the company selling the information. When an individual is
online, they always leave a digital footprint that can be traced by someone else and used maliciously
or for one own profit. Websites like Facebook and Google choose what websites to recommend us by
using algorithms created from our personal data. Websites like Facebook and Google are in the sense
that anyone and everyone can access it. Facebook claims that it is because Facebook charges
advertisers to show ads on the Facebook family of technologies and apps instead of charging its users.
However, Facebook ultimately uses our information to sell us advertisements. Websites like Facebook
and Google are also prone to the spread of misinformation. It is very easy to post something on
Facebook that is false, but people often soak in that false information anyways. The average person
typically does not do research into all the information they encounter on Facebook or Google, so they
often automatically perceive this information as true. Thus, everyone using sites like Facebook and
Google are prone not only to a loss of privacy and personal information but are also prone to
absorbing misinformation and propaganda. People are being molded by algorithms and artificial
intelligence without them even knowing.
