Pakistan is our homeland. It has four provinces: Sindh, Punjab,
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There are varied landforms in our
provinces such as deserts, plains, valleys, forests and plateaus. They also
have high mountains, thick forests, lakes, rivers and plains.
Pakistan is a beautiful country. Our main crops are cotton, wheat, rice,
maize and sugarcane. Fruits of varied kinds grow here, like apricots,
citrus fruits, apples, bananas, grapes, mangoes, dates and almonds.
We must take care of our country and keep it clean and green.

What will students learn?
Narrate the main events in the life of Quaid-e-Azam and
Allama Iqbal.

The Pakistan movement is a story of how Pakistan was born. Muslims


wanted a separate country to practice their religion without fear. There
are many great leaders who participated in this struggle. Among them
are Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and
Fatima Jinnah.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a great leader. He
studied law from England and returned back to his country. He joined
the struggle and worked day and night to get an independent state
for Muslims. He is known as the Father of the Nation.
In 1948, once when he was talking to students in Peshawar he told
them, ''The success of our achievement will depend upon our Unity,
Faith and Discipline.'' After few years Unity, Faith, Discipline was
adopted as National motto of Pakistan.
Quaid-e-Azam passed away on 11th September, 1948 and he is buried
in Karachi.

Remember
To practice discipline in school:
walk in lines after assembly, raise hands in class and wait for your turn
to talk in the class, stand in queue outside at the canteen or school
bus stand.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal was the first person to think about the
creation of Pakistan. He believed that Muslims and Hindus should have
separate countries as they are separate nations. This is called Two
Nation Theory. He is our National Poet and wrote many poems for
children and adults. Allama Iqbal died on 21st April, 1938 and is buried
in Lahore.
