Custom Coatings
Shawcor applies different multilayer polypropylene anti-
corrosion coating systems designed for the external protection
of various subsea production structures. Depending on the
production location, these systems can be applied onto
straight lengths of pipe, field joints, bends, fabricated spools
and other custom structures. They can be designed and
installed in a wide range of thicknesses and configurations to
meet specific performance and subsea installation requirements
for both shallow and deepwater applications.

High Temperature Corrosion Protection

Provides excellent long-term anti-corrosion protection for field joints in subsea environments and can be used in harsh
environments with operating temperatures up to 110°C (230°F)* with no depth limitations
The superior adhesion properties of the FBE layer result in excellent resistance to cathodic disbondment, reducing the total cost of
the pipeline’s cathodic protection system

Excellent Mechanical Protection

The custom polypropylene coating systems are designed to provide the highest level of mechanical protection available in the
industry
The tough outer layer of polypropylene protects against shear forces and impacts during transportation, installation and the entire
service life of the subsea production structures

Engineered Solutions
Coatings can be applied for protecting short straight lengths of pipe and field joints
These coating systems can also be applied on fabricated custom parts for subsea production systems such as bends, spools,
jumpers, PLETs, PLEMs, etc. Note: For temperature sensitive components such as valves please consult with your Shawcor

Excellent compatibility and flexible application process
The two- and three-layer polypropylene coating systems applied by Shawcor are compatible with all the existing anti-corrosion
polypropylene coating systems used on pipelines
Depending on production location, Shawcor can apply these polypropylene corrosion protection coatings by either using a spray-
spray or flame spray process.*
