AUTOMATION.

ASSIGNMENT: ROLL NUMBER: 1820018

Q) Explain the following components:

1. Processor:
A processor is an integrated electronic circuit that performs the calculations that run a
computer. A processor performs arithmetical, logical, input/output (I/O) and other basic
instructions that are passed from an operating system (OS). Most other processes are
dependent on the operations of a processor.
A processor, or "microprocessor," is a small chip that resides in computers and other
electronic devices. Its basic job is to receive input and provide the appropriate output.
Processors that include two cores are called dual-core processors, while those with four
cores are called quad-core processors.

2. Mounting rack:
Rack mount. A rack mount is a description of a hardware device capable of
being mounted in a special rack or the actual rack. Rack mounting is commonly used
with large companies to hold their network servers, routers, switches, or other network
devices.
Rack-mounted describes a unit of electronic equipment that is housed in a metal
framework called an equipment rack. Usually, an equipment rack contains multiple
"bays," each designed to hold a unit of equipment such as a computer server.

3. Input and output module:

I/O module stands for Input/output module, which is a device that acts as the connective
bridge between a computer system at one end and an I/O or peripheral device of some
kind at the other, such as a printer, webcam or scanner.

The major functions of an I/O module are as follows:

 Control and Timing.
 Processor Communication.
 Device communication.
 Data buffering.
 Error Detection.

4. Power supply:
A power supply is an electrical device that supplies electric power to an electrical load. ...
The source power may come from the electric power grid, such as an electrical outlet,
energy storage devices such as batteries or fuel cells, generators or alternators,
solar power converters, or another power supply.
5. Programming unit:
A unit is the smallest testable part of any software. It usually has one or a few inputs and
usually a single output. In procedural programming, a unit may be an individual program,
function, procedure, etc.
Computer programming is the process of telling a computer to do certain things by giving
it instructions. These instructions are called programs. A person who writes instructions
is a computer programmer. The instructions come in different languages; they are
called programming languages.
