Facilities Management’s mission is to develop, manage, maintain, repair, and remodel

the university’s infrastructure and facilities; to manage energy usage on campus; and to
provide whatever services the University needs to support its mission.

The Employees of Facilities Management uphold and respect the Creed of the
University. The guiding principles are to treat every member of the University
community with courtesy, dignity, and respect; to be honest and have integrity; to create
and develop sustainability in staffing, policies and equipment; to be accountable for
each person’s actions and to be good stewards of personnel and resources; and to
create, promote and maintain a safe and healthy campus community.

Facilities Management is a true service organization – it does not teach, conduct

research, or set University policy. There is limited direct contact with the student body.
Facilities Management exists solely to support the University in its academic, research,
and public service missions through maintenance and repair of campus facilities and
support of campus events. Service requests may be submitted using the SAP
notification process. For staff members who do not have access to SAP, requests may
be submitted by emailing fm@olemiss.edu or by calling the Production Control office at
(662) 915-7003 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Facilities Management is responsible for the operations and maintenance of campus

facilities and infrastructure, to include buildings, electrical, natural gas, water and
wasterwater utilities, the central heating and cooling plants, monuments, signage,
streets and drives, and the environment. The department also operates the service
station, which provides fuel and maintenance/repair services for campus vehicles. The
department employs electricians, plumbers, heating and air conditioning mechanics,
carpenters, painters, locksmiths, custodians, and general maintenance technicians. It
also offers specialized services such as water and wastewater treatment, engineering
and energy management services, fire services, and ADA accommodations. In
addition, the department provides essential support services for campus, such as
trucking, moving, event set ups and tear downs, and environmental and occupational
safety.

Laboratory Services is a division within Facilities Management and is located on the

east side of the football stadium next to the Johnny M. Williams Electrical Generation
Plant. Laboratory Services personnel provide training, develop policies and procedures,
and review experimental protocols to assure that research and laboratory operations
work can be conducted as safely as possible, while complying with all safety and
environmental regulations. Laboratory Services provides hazardous materials disposal
and emergency response services to the campus community.
