S-T-E-M, where is Literature here? Well, literature is not included in the strand but it
actually plays a vital role in honing our minds. I can say that literature is the one that connects
these 4 letters included in the strand. Not only the letters, but also connects people like us
students.

When I say that it plays a vital role in honing our minds, it means that it engages us to
think more and to express our thoughts efficiently. It enables us to think properly regarding the
things that concerns us. Literature gives us so much information that it can actually motivate us
to move further and pursue what we want in life. When we are curious about things, we just read
texts to gain knowledge from it and it repeats like a cycle because in our generation, people’s
mind are always into something and curious about the things that concern them. Students are
especially the ones who are always into something new because literature have so much
information for them to read and it inspires them to search for a wider knowledge to satisfy their
minds.

For Science and Technology, there is researches about new discoveries, latest trends,
inventions, as well as innovations that give inspirations to our future scientists and computer
experts. We are living in a modernized world and technologies are innovating further and further.
The high-tech phones, televisions, out-of-this-world devices, cars, and machineries that make our
life easier than before. It is literature that talks about it and it is the reason why we are updated in
the trends. Literature can now also be accessed through devices so it can share information
easier. Literature can also help us in the field of Science. It shares knowledge like the discoveries
of new species of plants and animals, the theories about the evolution, creation of the world and
universe, medicines that help people survive in diseases, our body and its subsystems and all
other things that concerns Science. It can also tell us about the people who contributed in Science
like Darwin, Tesla, Curie, and Einstein. Literature have their stories and their contributions that
motivate us and the young generation to pursue their dreams.

For Engineering and Mathematics, there are also different kinds of texts that help the
students learn and see how great and useful Math can be in our lives. Well, Math can also give us
problems that may seem impossible to solve but we manage to solve it and learn from it. We can
find many sources that talks about the great people in this field and their discoveries that really
give us headaches. We can read about Pythagoras, Euclid, Descartes and Pascal as well as their
contribution that we are studying now. The formulas that really tested our minds can also be
learned with the help of literature. And when it comes to the Engineering, there is much to talk
about like the famous structures around the world built by our ancestors. We can also find
modernized buildings, houses and all kinds of cars in literature.

All of these can be learned with the help of literature. Literature is not only relevant in
other field but also in the STEM Strand. Not only for the young Shakespeare, but also for the
young Einstein. With these, we can say that Literature is indeed an essential need for all of us.
