QUIZ BEE

GENERAL RULES
1. The contest is open to all bona fide high school students, from grades 10 and
11, of any private or public school in Nueva Ecija.
2. Each participating school should have a team of three members (two primary
contestants and one alternate contestant).
 If a primary contestant is not able to compete during the contest, the
alternate contestant will be allowed to compete in his/her slot instead.
 Each team should submit their team registration forms no later than
September ____, 2016
3. The contest is divided into two parts: Elimination Round and Final Round.
4. The contest covers the following areas: English, Mathematics, Science,
History and General Information.
5. The Board of Judges shall be composed of distinguished faculty members
from the Academic Department. The decision of the Board of Judges
regarding answers, protests, and problems that may arise during the contest
is final.
6. The contest proper starts at ______ a.m. Failure to appear 5 minutes after
the call for the Team would mean losing by default.

ELIMINATION ROUND (FOR SCHOOL LEVEL)


1. All school will conduct an Elimination Round in their respective campus.
2. The Elimination Round will be a 50-item multiple-choice type examination
which will consist of questions from topics presented above. Each member of
the team will take the exam individually.
3. The exam is good for one (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes.
4. No coach, faculty, or fellow students other than the participants will be
allowed to enter the examination room before the qualifying round.
5. Any questions during the Elimination Round should only be addressed to the
proctors inside the room.
6. Calculators, cell phones or any gadgets will not be allowed inside the
examination rooms.
7. Only answer sheets, pens and questionnaires provided are allowed to be used
during the elimination round.
8. All contestants will be advised to take toilet breaks before the start of the
exam. Once inside the room, students are not allowed to go out.
9. Emergency situations will be handled by the proctors.
10.The results of the Elimination Round will be announced thereafter. The top 3
students that will qualify for the Final Round.
11.Any form of cheating and intellectual dishonesty will result to the
disqualification of the students in the succeeding rounds of the competition.
12.In case of a tie, the involved teams will compete in a tie-breaker round to fill
the remaining slots.

PROCEDURE- Final Round (FOR INTERSCHOOL LEVEL)


1. Questions in the Final Round are divided into Easy, Average, and Difficult
Levels.
 Each Easy Question has an allotted time of 10 seconds and an
equivalent score of 5 points for every correct answer.
 Each Average Question has an allotted time of 15 seconds and a score
of 10 points for each correct answer.
 Each Difficult Question has an allotted time of 25 seconds and a score
of twenty 20 points for each correct answer.
2. There will be 10 questions in each level.
3. All teams will be provided with answer boards and scratch papers.
4. Each team must submit its answer board right after the allotted time,
whether or not it has come up with an answer.
5. A question may be nullified if members of the audience give audible or visible
signals to the contestants.
6. The unit of the unknown physical/chemical quantity must be indicated in the
answer.
7. Final answer should be correct according to proper significant figures.
8. No deductions shall be made for failure to give an answer or for incorrect
answers.
9. In case of a tie, three tie breaker questions shall be given. If the tie still
exists, another question shall be asked until the tie is broken.

PROCEDURE-PROTESTS
1. Protests shall be entertained only if they are raised before the quizmaster
reads the next question.
2. All protests shall be deliberated upon by the judges whose decision is final.
3. Other protests must be directed to the technical committee before the next
round begins.
