Message from VIA President/CEO Jeff Arndt

April 6, 2020

Dear VIA Family,

Today we learned that a second VIA employee has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus)
and is being quarantined at home. Our thoughts are with our team member and their family. We will
continue to communicate with them as they recover and do what we can to support them during this
time.

This person works as a bus operator and last reported for duty on Tuesday, March 31. They called out
sick on Wednesday, April 1, and consulted their family doctor, per VIA’s contagious virus protocol for
employees, which is designed to limit exposure to others when followed.

The operator was advised to self-quarantine by their doctor, pending test results. The positive test was
reported and confirmed on Monday, April 6. It is yet unknown how they contracted the virus.

A list of routes they operated in the period prior to April 1 is listed below and will be shared with the
public. Vehicles they drove have since been cleaned and disinfected.

• March 20, Route 522, Bus 428

• March 21, Route 42, Bus 435
• March 22, Route 66, Bus 422
• March 23, Route 9, Bus 526
• March 24, Route 82, Bus 334
• March 25, Routes 64 and 3, Buses 629 and 731
• March 28, No route service, Bus 970
• March 29, Spacer routes 5, 14, 22, 36, 102 and 503, Buses 453, 330, 426, 673, 615, 674, 581,
676, 576, 67 and 331
• March 30, Route 32, Bus 541
• March 31, Primo Route 100, Bus 968

We are in the process of notifying persons who may have been in close contact with the individual,
including co-workers and others. Operators and Transportation staff members will receive additional
communication from their supervisors.

If you feel you may have been in close contact with this employee, your next steps are to self-monitor
during the next 7 to 8 days. Self-monitor, not self-quarantine, means continue as before, check your
temperature, and if you experience COVID-like symptoms or feel sick, stay home and contact your
supervisor and your healthcare provider by phone.

Please also reference the Contagious Virus Protocol that instructs VIA employees to report if they are
experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or if they or anyone in their household has undergone testing or is
being quarantined with relation to the virus.

We are in constant communication with local officials and health professionals about this matter and
other developments related to COVID-19.

We will continue to aggressively expand system-wide cleaning and safety protocols in response to the
coronavirus. We are following recommended precautions to keep our patrons and employees safe,
which includes gloves, masks, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes for operators. We are monitoring
this situation and other developments to determine possible next steps and additional precautions.

Information about VIA’s coronavirus response and prevention efforts on our website at
VIAinfo.net/covid-19.

Please remember, feeling stressed over this situation is normal, so please use the free Employee
Assistance Program (EAP). And, if you feel sick, stay home and avoid close contact with others. Notify
your supervisor immediately, if you or someone in your home is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or
has been tested for the virus. We will provide updates on VIA’s COVID-19 response and share alerts
with employees as they become available. Thank you for helping to keep our community moving during
this crisis.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey C. Arndt
VIA President/CEO
