Steve Jobs

Created:
One Last Thing is a documentary that follows the creation of Apple Inc. It shows the ups and downs that
the company went through to get where it is today.
THE NEW IMAC: Inspires the whole generation.

Started with:
It all started when Steve Jobs’ childhood friend, Bill Fernandez introduced him to Steve Wozniak, a
fellow technology enthusiast. Little did Bill know, that introducing the pair would lead to the creation of
one of the most successful technology companies. This meeting lead to the first Apple "computer;" a
mother board equipped with CPU, RAM, and basic textual-video chips. After showing their invention
to the Homebrew Computer Club, Wazniak and Jobs decided to start a company. They sought out the
help of Ronald Wayne, who later returned his 10% share of the company "with no regrets," as he says.
Next milestone:
The Apple II computer was the next milestone for Apple. It was the first user friendly computer that
Apple designed.

Creation of first MAC mouse:

Jobs was a big believer in the statement “good artists create, great artists steal.” He took a trip to Xerox
headquarters and got the idea to create the first Mac mouse. The prototype for the mouse was the ball
from roll-on deodorant and a butter dish. Dean Hovey, the engineer assigned to design the mouse, took
the ball out and put it under the butter dish, and voila, that’s how the Apple mouse came to be.

Experiencing success with Apple:

After only experiencing success with Apple, Steve wanted help with the rapidly growing company. He
brought in Pepsi executive, John Scullery. 2 years after Scullery joined the Apple team, company profits
faltered.

Apple started to fall:

When Apple started to fall apart, the fallout was blamed on Steve Jobs. He was never fired from Apple,
however he was ostracized, demoted, and put in an office in an empty building. He resigned in 1985 and
immediately sold his 6 million shares for a very bad price.  He felt betrayed by Scullery. He felt as though
Scullery was part of the plot to have him removed from Apple.
Introduction of new company:

After leaving Apple, Steve made a new company; NeXT. NeXT, Inc. was an American computer
company out of Redwood City, California, that developed and built computer workstations intended for
higher education and business markets. Shortly after this, Steve was begged to return to a very broken
Apple company which was maybe 100 days away from going bankrupt. It was Steve’s positive attitude
and a very generous investment from Mike Mark Kula that helped get Apple back on its feet.

Returned to Apple:
Since Steve Jobs returned to Apple, the company has done nothing but flourish, dominating the personal
computer, tablet, smartphone, and music downloading market.

Death:
Devoted fans of the iconic Apple co-founder, it seems like just yesterday that Jobs stepped away from his
role as Apple’s chief executive to seek treatment for the rare pancreatic cancer that would eventually kill
him. When Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011, he was just 56 years old.
