Brave Bear Club and more…..

On December 15, we shipped another 50 teddy bears to Walter

Reed. The response from them has been tremendous and they
have asked for our continuing support of this project. To that
end, the Bear Club will be starting again on Thursday, January 6,
2011 at 9 am. We started this program with the intent that it
would be self-supporting and we have been successful thanks to
your support!!

And now to the “more”…the Kingstowne Center is again

honored to provide an additional “thank you” to our wounded
warriors. We will be sending 75-80 Valentine cards to the
soldiers who are staying at Andrews Air Force Base awaiting
transport to a hospital or rehabilitation facility closer to their
homes. If this program is successful, we will then do the same
thing for the up-coming holidays. It is our intention
that this program also be self-supporting; however,
some initial help will be necessary. Financial
assistance for start-up supplies such as cardstock
and adhesive will be greatly appreciated. Donations
could include good quality wrapping paper (used is
fine and scrap pieces are great), those greeting cards you’ve been
hanging onto and don’t know what to do with, and ribbon no
more than ½” wide. The card making classes will be taught by
Kate Wildman every Thursday from l:30 to 3pm. Please sign up
at the front desk if you are interested in participating in either
the teddy bear or card making groups.
