1.0 OVERVIEW OF CARD FEATURES


1.1 Product Credit Standards:
1. APPLICANT For Individuals who are:
Policy Refresher – Credit Cards
CATEGORIES • Salaried (employees of CAT A, CAT B & CAT C companies). Classic cards applications will
not be sourced from employees of CAT C companies under the Verified Income Program.
• Self Employed Professionals (SEP).
• Self Employed Businessmen (SEB) will not be sourced through the Verified Income
Program.
• Students / Retired Individuals / Housewives (Secured Credit Cards only)
Applicants may be individuals who are resident Indians, foreign nationals resident in India or
Non-Resident Indians (Secured Cards).
2. SELF EMPLOYED – Individuals having the following educational qualifications would be eligible for Credit Cards:
PROFESSIONALS:
ACCEPTABLE  Doctors : Qualified Doctors – MBBS or Higher
QUALIFICATIONS
 Dentists : Qualified Dentists – BDS or Higher
 Chartered Accountants : ACA/FCA with Certificate of practice
 Architects : Qualified Architects : B.Arch or Higher

3. CREDIT LIMITS • Classic Card Rs.15,000 to Rs.150,000


• Gold Card Rs. 40,000 to Rs.300,000
Maximum of Rs.500,000 for corporate cards, employee corporate cards, private clients, charter
member & VGPB.
Exceptions may be approved upto Rs.1,000,000 for Gold cards and Rs.200,000 for Classic cards
with approval of Head - Consumer Risk Management or Head - Unsecured Policy.
Note:
• Add-on card credit limits are within the overall personal card limit
• Credit limits are being assigned only in multiples of Rs.000’s and rounded off to the
nearest upper thousand figures.
4. ADD-ON CARDS Add-on cards may be issued in the name of the primary cardholder and to immediate family
members such as:
• Spouse
• Children (age 15 years and above)
• Siblings (brothers / sisters)
• Parents

The primary card must be valid and current for add on cards to be issued. The maximum number
of add on cards per primary card is five.
5. MAXIMUM EXPOSURE Each card member is allowed to have a maximum of two personal primary card accounts
PER CARD MEMBER (excluding personal loan on card). Card member can additionally have one corporate card.
AND MUE Overall, a card member may have a maximum of three card accounts. The aggregated credit
limits are subject to income multiplier norms relevant to the specific product and borrower
category.
The maximum unsecured exposure (MUE) on a customer would be as follows
• Verified Income Program – Salaried Cat A – Rs.1,000,000

• Verified Income Program – Salaried Cat C – Rs.300,000
• Verified Income Program – Self Employed Businessmen – Rs.500,000
• Verified Income Program – Professionals – Rs.1,000,000
• Surrogate Programs – Rs.850,000
• Relationship Reward Program – Rs.850,000
• Combined card exposure of Rs.500,000 for all customers except customers from Pre-
approved and Invite Programs.
MUE across personal cards (combined card limit) & personal loans (term or overdraft) would be
restricted as per above.
Note: MUE across cards shall apply to personal cards and not for corporate cards.
6. TARGET MARKET At present ABN AMRO Bank Card acquisition is permitted in 22 cities. This maybe expanded in
2006
Salaried and self-employed individuals residing in any of the following locations:
North: Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jalandhar
South: Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin, Vizag, Mangalore.
West : Mumbai, Pune, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Surat, Nasik, Nagpur.
East : Kolkata
Note: These are the existing 22 cities where ABN AMRO Bank card acquisition is permitted. This
may be expanded to 30 cities with the approval of Head Consumer Risk Management and Head –
Card Business.
7. EXCEPTIONS & Approvals deviating from the parameters specified on the Product Program and Credit Bulletins
OVERRIDES would be treated as exceptions and overrides, respectively.
Such deviations would be capped as a percentage of the total approvals as given below and would
be tracked on a monthly basis.

8. Listed CAT A/B Cos Every company has to be separately listed – Subsidiaries / sister concern
under parent name are not acceptable .

Units / Divisions of listed cos are acceptable subject to -If the salary slip
clearly mentions unit / division and this unit / division is not a separate legal
entity (Pvt ltd / ltd), we should be able to process such applications under the
Parent co name

In case a co is listed for a specific City – Can be accepted on PAN INDIA basis.

3.0 MULTIPLE CARD POLICY

A cardholder may apply for another primary card or the business may, based on the performance of the existing account,
either issue another card at the same level or upgrade the existing card. When a cardholder applies for another primary card,
the cardholder must meet the following criteria over and above the other criteria’s as mentioned in the eligibility criteria.

1. Month on books (MOB) for the existing card should be nine months payment record.The existing card should be
current (in case in X days / P Block , average limit utilization to be less than 50% and Average Payment to Outstanding
ratio to be more than 50%) and open & within limit at the time of application of a new card.
2. The existing card should not have been >= 30 days past due on more than one occasion and never 60 dpd during the
last nine months and never in 30 dpd in the past six months
3. The maximum (sum) amount of Credit limit across cards will be as defined in this policy document. The amount of
credit limit will be defined based on the income and the product type.
4. The application for the second card can be through only one of the programs mentioned below:
• Verified Income Program.
• Relationship Reward program (Pre-qualified)
• Card for Card Program.( Card number to be different )
• Repayment Track based program.
5. For ‘pro-active’ second card issuance (where the bank issues a second card to the customer based on his performance),
the new card would be issued with a credit limit equivalent to 50% of the limit on the existing credit card and the cash limit
would be equivalent of 50% of the credit limit on the second card.
A customer who is offered and accepts a second card through this proactive route would not be eligible for a Proactive
Limit Enhancement at that stage of performance based eligibility.
6. Applicants who have availed of Limit enhancement through the limit enhancement program or have availed of a
Personal loan on credit card in the previous 6 months will not be eligible for a multiple card.
7. In instances where the customer applies for a second card, credit limits would be assigned based on the document given
by the customer along with the application form and would be independent of the limits on the first / existing card.
8. The second card would be treated as a separate account and would be eligible for post account set-up engagements
(such as limit enhancements, cash limit enhancements, balance transfers, payment holidays, etc.) independent of the first
card
Note: A card member can have a maximum of 2 primary personal cards and 1 Corporate card from ABN AMRO Bank.

Document attached in Vernacular language

Income document attached in vernacular language will be accepted only if the same can be translated and understood
by the underwriting team else it will be declined.
Policy Refresher – Credit Cards
• If the customer’s signature on the application form is in a vernacular language, he must attach a Vernacular
indemnity form along with application. The same needs to be complete with respect to Applicant’s signature, witness
signatures, name and address. Witness must not to sign in Vernacular. A Sales executive cannot sign as a witness.
Client Identification, Documentation and Verification Process

All applications processed should have photo-ids which have been 'original seen and verified' by the sourcing team. This is
not applicable for Pre-qualified and Co-origination cases.

Following documents are acceptable ID’s :


a) PAN Card photocopy
b) Passport
c) Driving License
d) Voters ID Card
e) Ration card with photo
e) Any id card provided by a statutory / government body, i.e., an id card provided by Post Office / any other
government department like
a. Armed forces ID card
b. CBI / Ministry
c. Central Govt. Health Scheme cards

The applicant's current address may not match with the address on the ID proof.

The above requirement is not applicable to Pre-qualified program and Co-origination programs.

6.0 Non Target / HRP Profiles

The segments that the business considers are non-targeted for card sourcing and issuance. The segments have been
categorised as Category ‘A’ and Category ‘B’ profiles.

An applicant in Category ‘A’ would be declined with the exception of applications under the Card for Card program

and Pre-qualified programs. An applicant in Category ‘B’ would be processed based on the overall profile of the

applicant.

7.0 Negative areas


Negative areas are areas/localities in cities where a trend of default has been noticed /experienced due to the demography of
the population. The population will be residents of these areas.

A list of negative areas is provided. For all applicants, negative areas would apply only for residence. Applicants residing
in Cat ‘A’ negative areas would be declined while applicants residing in Cat ‘B’ negative areas would be processed on an
override basis the profile of the applicant

8.0 City Limits

City limits are specified for each city as the outer-most areas/localities from where sourcing of card applications would be
encouraged. The residence and work addresses of the applicants should be in these areas.
A list of acceptable pin codes is being provided. Areas with these pin codes are categorized as being within the city limits.

Applicants working in adjoining / peripheral industrial areas of the towns would be considered only if they are residing
within city limits of the sourcing locations currently prevalent.

 For Cat 'A' companies (sourced through any program) applications would be accepted if one of the locations

9.1 Software/IT Professionals
Policy Refresher – Credit Cards
The guidelines apply to the processing of card applications received from BPO’s / Software/IT Professionals residing in
PG/Bachelor accommodation/Shared accommodation. Applications received from applicants with the above profile would
be processed subject to the following:
 Applicant is employed with a company listed as a CAT A or CAT B Co.
 The Income is more than Rs. 240,000 for Classic card applicants and more than Rs. 300,000 for Gold card applicants.
 The Permanent address of the applicant is stated in the application form.
 A copy of the Office ID card is available.
 The proof of the permanent address of the applicant is provided.
 The application form is complete in terms of information-such as office telephone number, extension number,
department/Project name, mobile number, E Mail Ids etc.

9.2 Insurance Professionals in Sales/Agency Management related functions

The following criteria would be applicable for processing of applications from these applicants:
 Fixed Income of the applicant to be greater than Rs. 150,000 in case of Classic cards and greater than Rs. 240,000 for
Gold cards.
 Fixed Income would not include any incentives/commission that is reflected in the income document given by the
applicant.
 A contact with the customer should be established.
 The application form should be complete in terms of information such as telephone number, extension number.

9.3 Government Organizations (Not Including PSU's)


• Phone at Office AND Residence Mandatory
• Residence verification must be positive
• One physical verification and one phone verification must be positive (given the fact that entry to certain government
departments would be restricted)

9.4 Educational Institutions


• Sourcing to be restricted to teaching staff and senior administrative staff only

Credit card may be pre-qualified for existing ABN customers based on period of relationship and or credit history of
existing / matured loans with ABN AMRO Bank. The customer must be gainfully employed and must meet the minimum
age criteria for a Credit Card.

Pre-qualified database would be valid for a period of 45 days only. Information on application form would be matched
with the internal database. .

Deposit Relationship: Only Savings Accounts


1. Average Daily Balance on the deposit will be calculated basis the most recent 3 month period.

2. Regular credit parameters such as high-risk profiles, occupation and negative areas would not apply to pre-qualified
customers.

3. Verification requirements may be waived in case name and address details of the applicant match with the name and
address details on the cross-sell Bank database.

4. Further, only applicants meeting the following criteria would be considered ineligible and declined:

• Minimum age criteria not met

• MUE (Personal Loans and Cards exposure) would be as per parameters defined and approved through a
separate credit bulletin.

any Credit Bureau. .

• Limit utilization must be less than 90% of the assigned overdraft limit. Average limit utilization of last 6 months
would be used for the purpose of calculating payment to outstanding ratio.

• Payment to outstanding ratio must be greater than 10%. Average payment to outstanding ratio for the last 6 months
would be used for the purpose of calculating the payment to outstanding ratio.

3. Regular credit parameters such as stability, high-risk profiles, occupation and negative areas would not apply to pre-
qualified customers.

4. Verification requirements may be waived in case name and address details of the applicant match with the name and
address details on the cross-sell Bank database.

5. Both Individual and Non Individual Accounts meeting the above criteria are considered eligible. In case of Non

Relationship Reward – Insurance

The bank has been focusing on selling Life Insurance product through its existing distribution network. The bank has a tie
up with AVIVA where policies underwritten by them are sold to existing and new customers of the bank. The bank will
now offer Gold Credit cards to such eligible customers.
1. This program will be applicable to new / fresh insurance policy acquisition and existing Policy holders acquired in
the previous 6 months. Only customers who have applied for a life insurance policy from AVIVA through the ABN
acquisition channel within the previous 6 months of credit card processing will be eligible.
Policy Refresher – Credit Cards
2. No income document would be required under this program. Income criterion would be deemed to have been met
by virtue of being an insurance policy holder at pre-defined level of annual premium.

3. Credit criteria such as Employment Stability and Residence stability are also deemed to be met by the applicant. All
other credit criteria would have to be met by the applicant.

4. Only salaried individuals, self-employed business and professionals would qualify under this program. Other
categories like retired, housewives, students etc would not qualify.

5. Applicant must be gainfully employed.

6. Minimum age of the applicant must be 21 years.

7. Regular credit parameters such as high-risk profiles, occupation and negative areas would not apply to pre-qualified
customers.

8. The name, address and date of birth on the Credit card application form should match with the data
provided by the insurance company.

9. Physical and telephone verification will be conducted at both residence and office.

10. The proposer, insured and credit card applicant must be the same individual.

11. Further, only applicants meeting the following criteria would be considered ineligible and declined:

• Minimum age criteria not met


• MUE (Personal Loans and Cards exposure) would be as per parameters defined and approved through a
separate credit bulletin.
• Applicants are part of any internal or external derogatory bases in the possession of the bank.

13. Only AVIVA Life Insurance issued policy holders acquired through ABN Amro acquisition channel will be eligible
under this program.

14. Credit Cards under this program will be processed only in approved Credit Card locations.

15. De-activated cards would be sent to all Credit card eligible customers who have applied for new AVIVA Life
Insurance policy in the previous 30 days. Activation will be done only on receipt of confirmation of clear funds of
the premium amount.
Policy Refresher – Credit Cards
Activated credit cards would be sent to policy holders who meet the credit standards for Credit Cards and have been
acquired by AVIVA in the previous 6 months and greater than 30 days. In such cases the customer must provide a copy of
the policy.

• This program targets customers who have purchased a life insurance policy through the Bank which is
underwritten by our insurance business partner (currently Aviva). Insurance customers with monthly premium
payment plans would not be eligible.
• Minimum premium amount paid – Rs.20,000
• Credit limit would be 2 X premium amount paid subject to a minimum of Rs.40,000 and maximum of
Rs.100,000
• Card type: Gold

Relationship Reward – Wealth

There has been a thrust in the Mutual Fund acquisition business. The bank is one of the largest fund mobilizes of Mutual
Fund. The bank will now offer Credit card to customers who have invested in Mutual Fund through ABN AMRO bank.
1. Only Mutual Fund new / fresh customers acquired by ABN Amro bank will be eligible under this program. Mutual
fund customer acquisition must have happened within a maximum of 30 days prior to the credit card processing
date.

2. The Mutual Fund application approved by the fund must be in the name of the individual Credit Card applicant.

3. Only approved AMC cases would be eligible for a Credit Card. Credit card application would be declined if the
applicant’s payment to the mutual fund has been dishonoured or the mutual fund application has been rejected for
any other reason.

4. Investment customers who opt for systematic investment plan ( SIP) will not be eligible.

5. The applicant must be gainfully employed

6. Regular credit parameters such as high-risk profiles, occupation and negative areas would not apply to pre-qualified
customers.

7. Physical and telephone verification will be conducted at both residence and office.

Two types of credit cards would be issued to employees
• Staff Personal Card
• Staff Corporate Card (Only to ABN AMRO Bank Employees)
• Limits to be governed by attached matrix based on the level of the employee in the organisation. Personal
Financial Consultants, who are part of ACES would be issued personal Classic Cards with limits of Rs.15,000
only after six months of joining. Clerical staff would also be issued Classic Cards with limits of Rs.15,000.
• Gold cards would be issued to employees in Grades J and above in ABN AMRO Bank and the equivalent
levels in the group companies. Classic cards would be issued to employees in Grades I and below in ABN

• E- statement should be complete - All the 4 critical information is available- Complete 16 digit card
number, Customer name, Credit Card limit and address - OK for all LISTED Card issuers .

• E- statement is INCOMPLETE - Complete card number ( Only last 4 digits seen ) or Address not stated -
Accepted only if an original statement issued in the preceding 12 months is attached with application - Customer
name / Card number ( last 4 digits ) should match .
Address proof is not required with E-statements
5) The credit/charge card would have to be a primary/personal card and must be in the applicant’s name. This can be
evidenced through the copy of front and reverse of the card.
6) Add-on and corporate cards would not be eligible for this program.
7) Not delinquent or overdue – Copy of most recent statement required validating the same. In the event, there is a late
charge reflecting in the latest statement, the application may be processed with the following mitigants:
The customer must have an 18 month vintage on the other bank card
The preceding statement should not be reflecting any late payment charges.
8) Not more than 80% of the credit limit utilization on existing card.
9) Minimum credit card relationship of 6 months – Copy of the front and back portion is required along with the
application form.

15.0 Visiting Card Policy Surrogate credit card program

1. The program is open for salaried employees from an identified list of companies selected from the list of empanelled
companies (CAT A) for Credit Cards, subject to a maximum of 750 companies.
2. Only employees in Senior Management cadre of such companies would be offered credit cards under this program.
3. No income document will be required under this program. The visiting card of the applicant would be the only
documentation required under this program.
4. Visiting card attached should match with office details given on the application form by the customer , in case of
address or city mismatch the application needs to be declined .
5. Only Senior Management cadre applicants would be eligible for Gold Cards with limits of Rs.100,000.
6. The applicant level in the management hierarchy would be classified based on the list of designations published as part
of the Credit guidelines for Cards
16.0 Club Membership Policy Surrogate Program
1) Applicants should be members of clubs from the identified list of eligible clubs, categorised as Super Premium,
Premium and Regular clubs.

2) Applicants should be gainfully employed.

3) Applicants with primary membership would be eligible under this program. Dependent members would not be
eligible. Salaried applicants with Corporate Membership are also eligible

4) Copies of the membership card ( front & back) and the latest bill/statement (not more than two months old incase of
monthly statements) of the club would be the required documentation for the program. The bill should not indicate
any derogatory status, if available, indicated as 30 days or more past due .

5) In absence of latest bill / statement , WE DO NOT accept the club directory page received from sales along
with F&B of club card copy

19.0 Loan Repayment Track Record Policy Surrogate Program

Applicants having personal loans, auto loans (only car loans) and home loans from an approved list of financiers would be
eligible to apply for an ABN AMRO Bank credit card under this surrogate. Matured / Closed loans will not qualify for a
Credit card under this program.
1. Only salaried individuals, self-employed business and professionals would qualify under this program. Other categories
like retired, housewives, students etc would not qualify.
2. Minimum length of relationship with the financier is 8 months and at least 8 EMI’s paid.
3. The applicant should provide the latest ‘statement-of-account’ of his loan account with the other financier as
documentation. In the absence of this, the applicant may provide the letter of loan disbursement issued by the financier
along with a copy of the bank statement of the account used for servicing the loan, showing the last 8 cheque clearances.
4. The applicant should be regular in the repayment of the loan and should never be 30+ dpd delinquent for the latest 8
months. The same may be evidenced through the documentation.

22.0 Secured Credit Card Program


This bulletin defines the criteria and parameters for the issuance of Credit Cards under the Secured Credit Card Program.
Policy Refresher – Credit Cards
1. The applicant need not be gainfully employed for applying for a credit card under this program.
2. Applicant’s age must be > 18 years at the time of application.

3. The application must meet the multiple card policy criteria.


4. MUE criteria will not be applicable under this program.

5. MCP Policy is applicable


6. Satyam matches NOT to be declined .Satyam exception code to be used- MCNF -Exception EMB3

7. The customer must have a fixed deposit with the Bank. The minimum deposit value is Rs.20,000 for a Classic Card and
Rs.50,000 for a Gold Card.

8. 90% of the value of the Rupee fixed deposit would be assigned as the credit limit on the credit card
9. For FCNR accounts, 85% of the value of the fixed deposit would be assigned as the credit limit on the credit card.

10. A report will be generated on a monthly basis which will provide deposit amount in foreign currency and local currency
at the time of booking deposit and at the time of report generation. Banking PIBI will circulate a report to risk on a
monthly basis. The deposit value in local currency will be on a mark to market basis. Collection will take appropriate
action on the Credit card account if the drop in the deposit value is > 5%.

11. A lien would be marked on the fixed deposit towards any outstanding on the credit card. The lien may be released only
upon an approval from Cards Risk Management team. There would be a minimum of 15-day waiting period between
the closure of the card account and the release of the lien on the fixed deposits.
12. Non - resident Indians (NRIs) may apply for a credit card under this program, subject to satisfying all of the above
conditions. All payments made by NRIs towards their credit card dues must be from their NRE / FCNR / NRO accounts
held with the Bank. Hence for NRI applicants, auto debit instructions on an NRE / FCNR / NRO accounts with ABN
AMRO Bank are mandatory.

23.0 CEDP Card program


1. The applicant’s employer should be part of the list of CAT A or CAT B CEDP companies.

3. The CEDP relationship with the bank must be a Limited company. The CEDP company must be duly approved by

7. Further, only applicants meeting the following criteria would be considered ineligible and declined:

• Non Management Cadre (NMC)

• Applicants are part of any internal or external (Satyam) derogatory credit databases in the possession of the

25.0 Co- Branded Cards
Max Co-branded Card :

All applicants who satisfy existing underwriting and program standards would be eligible for a card issued under this
program. The card would also be issued to existing card accounts meeting the multiple card policy. In addition to this, the
card offer can also be extended to the following set of customers:

Add-on Card to Existing Cardholders


• The Max Co-Brand Card can be issued as an add-on to existing card account holders. This card would share the
limit of the existing card.
• Customers meeting the multiple card policy can be issued a Max add-on card with a limit increase of 50% on the
primary card. The minimum limit on the existing card must be greater than Rs. 25,000.

Staff Personal Card under the Max Co-Brand


• The Max card can be issued to the bank Staff. This is in addition to the existing cards under the staff personal card
program.
• The additional card would be issued subject to the card account meeting the multiple card policy and limits would
be assigned as per the grid mentioned below :

Emergency Cash
• Cardholders holding a Max Primary or an add on card would be eligible for an emergency cash facility of Rs.
25,000((for cardholders with a credit limit of up to Rs.25,000) and a facility of Rs.50,000 (for cardholders with
credit limit greater than Rs.25,000).
• The emergency cash disbursement would be treated as a temporary increase in credit limit which would be
available for a period of twelve months. At the expiry of the twelve-month period, the limit would revert to the
original limit and any outstanding above the limit would be due for immediate payment.
• The limit increase would be extended subject to the following criteria being met :

 The account must be current.
 The account must not be over credit limit
 The account must not have a temporary credit limit increase running at the time of the request.

Barista Co-Brand Credit Card

• All new applicants who satisfy existing underwriting and program standards would be eligible for a card issued
under this program.
• A Barista primary Credit Card may also be issued to existing Credit card accounts meeting the multiple card policy
criteria’s.
• In addition to this, this card offer may also be extended as provided below:

Add-on Card to Existing Cardholders

• The Barista Co-Brand Card can be issued as an add-on card to existing card account holders. This add-on card may
be in the same name as the primary cardholder to enable the primary cardholder to get the benefits offered by the
Barista Co-Brand card within the limit of the existing card.

Staff Personal Card under the Barista Co-Brand


• The Barista Co-Brand card may also be issued to the staff of the bank and its associated companies in India. This is
in addition to the existing cards under the staff personal card program and staff corporate card program.
• Employees of ABN Amro bank and its subsidiaries will be eligible for one employee corporate card, in addition to
2 employee personal cards.
• The additional card would be issued subject to the card account meeting the multiple card policy and limits would
be assigned as per the grid mentioned below :

• All other terms and conditions applicable to issue to staff personal cards as stipulated in credit bulletin would
continue to apply for Barista Co-Brand cards issued to staff.

Adlabs Co-Brand Credit Card

• All new applicants who satisfy existing underwriting and program standards would be eligible for a card issued
under this program.
• An Adlabs Primary Credit Card may also be issued to existing Credit card accounts meeting the multiple card
policy criteria’s.
• In addition to this, this card offer may also be extended as provided below:
Add-on Card to Existing Cardholders
• The Adlabs Co-Brand Card can be issued as an add-on card to existing card holders. This add-on card may be in the
same name as the primary cardholder to enable the primary cardholder to get the benefits offered by the Adlabs Co-
Brand card within the limit of the existing card.
Staff Personal Card under the Adlabs Co-Brand
• The Adlabs Co-Brand card may also be issued to the staff of the bank and its associated companies in India. This is
in addition to the existing cards under the staff personal card program and staff corporate card program.
• Employees of ABN Amro bank and its subsidiaries will be eligible for one employee corporate card, in addition to
2 employee personal cards.
