    Oil and Gas production

    1. When drilling a well found sand stone layer assumed to have oil and
    after examine the history of the area found that if the rock porosity
    more than 13.8% then the rock have the ability to hold good
    economic amount of oil
    A sample test carried out on the rock found:-
    - Dry weight of sample, Wdry = 1500 g
    - Weight of sample saturated with water, Wsat = 1240 g
    - Density of water = 1.0 g/cm3
    - Sample is a cylindrical core with D= 6.5 cm and L= 8 cm.

    Is this sand stone layer can be oil produced layer or not.

    2. Using the porosity LS method with the following data, calculate the
    pore and bulk volumes and the porosity.
    - Dry weight of sample, Wdry = 672.4 g
    - Weight of sample saturated with water, Wsat = 542.1 g
    - Density of water, = 1.0 g/cm3
    - Sample is a perfect cube with L= 6.3 cm.
