The line graph shows the number of enquiries received by the Tourist Information Office in a city over

the first half of 2011.

Enquiries by telephone outnumbered enquiries by letter/email or direct enquiries in the January of

2011. In February and March 2011, enquiries by telephone were mostly received and followed by the
other two enquiries. There was a sharp increase in the number of direct enquires from March 2011 to
June 2011. The substantial increase of enquiries by telephone started from April 2011 to June 2011 after
an unchanged in the number since March 2011. In contrast, a significant decrease was observed in the
number of enquiries by letter/email from March to May 2011. The number of enquiries by letter/email
in June 2011 maintained the same as that in May 2011.

Overall the graph shows a continuous increase in the number of direct and telephone enquiries. This
trend was opposite to that of the number of enquiries by letter/email which was less chosen.

The environment plays an important contribution to life quality. For a long time, environmental issues
have appeared and are required to be solved and improved. Many people would support the opinion
that governments and large companies are the only authorities to make impact on the improvement.
Individuals have no role to make the environment better. I believe to protect and improve our
environment governments, large companies and individuals can make a great difference.

Advocates supporting the sole role of governments and large companies in improving the environment
have some plausible points. Concerning to changes toward to our environment, governments and large
companies certainly have a clear informed reports about it. Therefore, they have a bigger view about
what have to be done to improve the current environment. Large companies manufacture products to
supply for our needs. The activities involve waste production which is required to be processed before
releasing to the environment. The good practice from them is necessary to protect the environment.
Moreover, policies and actions from governments or activities from large companies are followed by a
large number of individuals, thereby leading a greater contribution to the environmental improvement.

Individuals also play a crucial role in improving the environment. When they are informed about actions
have to be taken to improve the environment, they can make a great impact on the improvement. For
example, plastic rubbish which takes a hundred years to degrade has negative effects in marine lives.
Seeing the issues, individuals eliminate using plastic materials. Some individuals actively volunteer to
invent a tool to clear plastic rubbish in the oceans.

Overall, governments, large companies and individuals are all important factors to improve the
environment conditions. They have to co-operate for a better living environment and a higher life
quality.
