TV PROGRAMS IN INDONESIA MUST BE RE-REGULATED!

I believe, almost all of us must have watched TV. Or even

often. Every day, we spend approximately 1 hour to watch our
favorite shows on TV. Sometimes we are accompanied by
relatives, parents and even our younger siblings to watch TV.
There are a variety of tv program that can be seen on
television screens, ranging from soap operas, music shows,
news, or just advertising. However, have we ever thought,
how much influence is tv for us? Does tv make us smarter? Or
has it become even more stupid? How big is the benefit of tv
programs that we watch every day for us? Or maybe the
program is not useful or even hurt yourself?

Well, we might think that tv is just a medium for fun and

entertainment. So that aside from the small things that are
actually important for someone to pay attention to in
everyday life, the act of neglect that we do not intentionally do
can lead us to make mistakes. For example mistakes in
watching TV. The first is, mistakes in choosing television
programs. Shows on television are very diverse, there are
thousands of programs that we can choose at will. However,
not all programs on television are useful, some do not educate
and even feel no benefit at all, there are even shows that can
damage our mental and moral as viewers. There are many
types of shows in Indonesia that we don't really need to
watch, because there is no benefit for us at all. One of them is
soap opera and ftv shows. There are dozens of Indonesian
soap operas that air every day on television, but in terms of
education, this soap opera is just a hoax, full of unnecessary
conflict, and very excessive. Indonesian soap operas are often
filled with love scenes that do not need to be shown, even
many of them are interspersed with scenes of violence. KPI or
the Indonesian broadcasting commission as the authority in
this broadcasting issue has even released watch lists that are
problematic and not worth watching. And you know,
everything is soap operas and ftv. But surprisingly, the soap
opera and ftv that are not worth watching are the most
popular programs for the people of Indonesia. many of us
prefer to watch shows that are not qualified and not educate
like that. Even though many educational programs are more
useful to watch than the soap opera. One of them is a religious
program. But in reality, based on Nielsen's data, television
programs that are widely watched by the public are sinteron,
reaching up to 30%, and this is in contrast to religious
program viewers who only watch 2% of the total television
audience. That is the reality, when in fact the quality of self
can be seen from what we see on television.
Apart from soap operas, other less educating programs are in
the form of variety shows. Many types of variety shows that
air on Indonesian TV are sometimes far removed from the
true meaning of variety shows. Many of them are interspersed
with inappropriate scenes and often create a lot of sensations,
one of which is the pesbukers program. This program was not
running yet, but it had become a triumph in its time, many
people were interested in watching the program, but without
our awareness and attention, the program was actually not
worth watching and not useful at all. Even this program is
often criticized by scholars and also often gets a reprimand
from the KPI itself.

People have often been asked to watch programs that are

educational and useful, but shows that are not appropriate
are still favorites. They reasoned because these programs
were very entertaining and exciting to watch. Yet unwittingly
the influence of tv is very big for brain development and
human behavior, especially children. Programs that run like
soap operas are sometimes often imitated by children and
adolescents, in fact a large amount of violence that occurs
among the people increases one of the causes is soap operas.

Then if it's like this, who is to blame? society? KPI? Or the

government? Now is not the time to blame anymore. society is
not wrong just because they want to get entertainment.
Instead, the KPI and the government must take this seriously,
they must cooperate and coordinate in regulating shows on
Indonesian TV. The show must be researched before airing,
whether educating or not. And KPI must also ban and delete
programs that are not suitable for public viewing. With this
