Exercise – 3

 The displacement of a particle at t = 0.25 s is given by x = (4.0 m) cos (3.0 pi t + pi),

where x is in meters and t is in seconds. Plot the graph for displacement and time at
0.25s.
1. Plot graph between displacement and time
2. Label the plot and specify the legends
3. Plot a single graph for displacement for t=0.25s and t=0.37s
4. For the same plot specify the legends and label
5. For the same plot use ‘*’ and red colour for t=0.25s & ‘- ‘and green for
t=0.37s
Note: variation of displacement should be 0.1m and time is 0.01s

 Plot a graph for effectiveness (ε) of a parallel flow heat exchanger as function of
number of transfer units (N) and capacity ratio (C). The vale of N varies from 0 to 6
with an increment of 0.1 and C is in the range of 0, 0.4, 0.8 & 1. The effectiveness is
given by

1. Plot graph between effectiveness and Number of transfer units

2. Plot a single graph for displacement for all the variations of ‘C’
3. For the same plot specify the legends and label
