Block Diagram

Functions and Descriptions:

Capacitor (4700uF)- It is used to store electrical energy and give

this energy again to the circuit when necessary. It charges and
discharges the electric charge stored in it. The function of 2x
capacitor in our power supply is that it filters the pulsating DC
output after the rectification process of the bridge rectifier so that a
nearly constant DC voltage is supplied to the load.
Output/Load- The output of all the process inside the power supply
which power ups electronic devices with the range of 0-12V.
220V AC- Input voltage which the power supply requires to power
up itself. 220V outlets do have a standard voltage of 220.
Transformer (12V, 6A)- An electrical device that is used to either
raise or lower voltages and currents in an electrical circuit. The
function of the transformer in our power supply is transform the
220V AC Input to the voltage that is require by the output. By having
a transformer in our PSU, does it will be more efficient and be safer
for the user to use.
Bridge/Rectifier (50V, 6A)- An electrical device that converts
alternating current (AC) which periodically reverses direction, to
direct current (DC), which flows in only one direction. A full-wave
rectification is used in our power supply to convert alternating
current (AC) into direct current (DC) with accurate and precise
conversion.
LC Filters- Combines inductors (L) and capacitors (C) to form low-
pass, high-pass, multiplexer, band-pass, or band-reject filtering in
radio frequency (RF) and many other applications.
Functions and Descriptions:

When the PSU is turned on, a total of 220V AC will be inputted in our
device. 220V AC is converted into 12V DC by using simple step-
down (220V/12V) transformer (figure T1 in schematic). Output of
this transformer is given to the rectifier circuit (bridge rectifier, 4x
diode), which will convert the AC supply into DC supply. The output
of the rectifier circuit that is DC contains the ripples in the output
voltage. To filter out these ripples, capacitor of 2x 4700 uF, 50V (C1
& C2 in schematic diagram) is used. The output of the capacitor that
is pure DC is given directly as the output voltage at 12V and -12V DC
with common ground despite the changes in input voltage.
