Robotics: the practice of programming robots
Coding
: writing instructions (code) for a computer to interpret
in order to complete a task
RC Club: a place for students to explore both robotics and
coding basics with the help of MRS. ERGER and MRS. TAPIA
Where?
Parkside Elementary (room to be determined)
When?
Beginning in Nov.7
3:15-4:00on select Thursdays (Approx. twice
a month)
Who?
First 24 4th-6th grade students to return the signed permission
slip to MRS. ERGER
. (After RC Club has reached capacity, we will
keep your permission slips in the order they were received. If
we have an opening as the year progresses, we will contact you.)
Why?
Coding is a highly engaging way for students to innovate and
create, improve problem-solving skills, communicate with others,
and boost self-confidence through perseverance.
How?
If you are one of the first 30 students to return the signed
permission slip, then you will officially be a part of RC Club.
Expectations of RC Club must be followed in order to maintain
your spot; otherwise, your spot will be given to the next
student on the waitlist.
RC Club Expectations
1. Coders must respect their peers, teachers, and technology.
2. Coders must attend RC Club regularly. If a coder misses more
than 2 sessions consecutively, then their spot will be given to
the next student on the waitlist.
3. Coders must arrange transportation home on RC Club days.
Coders need to be picked up at 4:00.
Please sign and return the bottom portion of this paper to MRS.
ERGER (Room 28) or MRS. TAPIA (Room 15) before November 1st!
