4. The ‘culture’ and ‘way of working’ of any organization is primarily defined by the
nature and quality of leadership exhibited by the board. The board is responsible for
determining, articulating and communicating the values and standards of the
organization and for ensuring that the policies, procedures and controls in place act
to embed, rather than hinder, ethical values throughout the business.
5. The concept of ‘Ethics’ is rather subjective in nature and varies among individuals,
cultures and organizations. But there are typical ethical values like Integrity,
Fairness, Honesty, Respect, Openness and Responsibility that remain constant.
6. While tackling issues and creating policies, businesses should devise an action plan
that is flexible in application but firm in principles.
