Preface

These release notes provide information about extensions, modifications and bug fixes that
have been implemented in the current software version of eGlobe G2 OFS since its previous
release.
The current version 2020.1 was released in October 2019.

1 Introduction

Release Date: October, 1st, 2019.

The On-Board Familiarisation System (OFS) created by Master Mariners is developed to

provide every Nautical Officer optimal support and training for using eGlobe G2. It is
designed to give the crew the knowledge they require to operate the ECDIS safely from zero
knowledge. The OFS training in its entirety takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to
complete – our focus being on a training course designed to transfer our maritime expertise
to your navigating crew in the most efficient way.
Beside the familiarisation course, this OFS provides an index, a troubleshooting section, and
audit preparation support to guarantee continuous training. Implemented assessment
modules and automatically created training certificates allow the monitoring and verification
of the crews training.

Version 2020.1 has been developed and fixed to be compliant to the latest regulations and
to improve software and its stability. This release note gives an overview of the bugs and
improvements that have been done from previous OFS version 2.1.1.
Remark: the numbering convention for the OFS version has been changed. The new system
will allow you to identify the year of expiry and the consecutive number of the version in the
year.
Please note that this document provides you with an overview of functions and additions to
the previous versions.

1.3 System Requirements
The following minimum requirements are recommended for eGlobe G2 OFS installation:
 Windows 7 (32 and 64bit), Windows 8 / 8.1, Windows 10
 650 MB free disk space for the installation
 Firefox Portable (Provided by ChartWorld)
 PDF creator to save and print the Certificate

1.4 How to install the OFS

1. Delete eGlobe G2 OFS v.2.1.1 from your system.
2. Copy the whole OFS_eGlobe_G2_v.2020.1 folder onto your hard disk (C: preferred)
3. Close your current Firefox session if in use.
4. Open the OFS_eGlobe_G2_v.2020.1 folder and tap on OFS_Launcher.bat.

Alternative:
1. Open
OFS_eGlobe_G2_v.2020.1/Supporting_Software/FirefoxPortable/FirefoxPortable.exe"
2. Then open OFS_eGlobe_G2_v2020.1 folder.
3. Access the OFS_v.2020.1 folder and drag and drop the story.html file into the Firefox
Portable.

1.5 New Features and Functions

This section gives an overview of all new features and functions that have been implemented in
the new eGlobe G2 OFS version.

1.5.1 New Expire Date

The new OFS version 2020.1 will expire in July 2020 and will be no longer usable.

1.5.2 Coverage Check

The Coverage check messages were updated in eGlobe and thus also adapted in the OFS.

1.5.3 eChartSecure
OFS now includes explanation for using eChartSecure.

1.5.4 Wind Indicator

The new Wind Indicator will be explained now in the new OFS version.

1.5.5 New Questions for the Assessments

New questions for the assessments were implemented about the new topics.
