se@vis FSM 006 - 100 Servomotors Transport, Storage and Packing

2 Transport, Storage and Packing

2.1 Checking the Delivery

SAACKE products are packed and checked before they leave the factory.

 When the product is delivered, first check whether the packaging is intact. This
would be the first indication that it has been transported correctly.
 Check the product for transport damage.

2.2 Reporting Transport Damage

If damage has occurred during transport, follow these procedures:
 Record the transport damage on the freight documents and take a
photograph and/or make a sketch of it.
 Have the person responsible for the delivery (for example the truck driver)
confirm that the damage was noticed by signing the freight documents.
 Report the transport damage right away to SAACKE or whichever company
supplied the product.

2.3 Instructions for Storage

 Store the product on safe and firm ground.
 Keep the product dry, free of dust and at the correct temperature during storage.
The relative humidity must be below 80 %.

 Protect the product with appropriate covering in the case of a long storage period.
Preserve all metal surfaces.

2.4 Disposal of the Packaging

 Dispose of all packaging correctly and ecologically.
 When you do it, comply with the waste disposal regulations of the country in which
you are working.

2.5 Disposal of the Product

 At the end of its service life the product must be disposed of correctly and
ecologically.

 When you do it, comply with the waste disposal regulations of the country in which
you are working.

se@vis FSM 006 - 100 Servomotors Function

4 Function
The FSMs described in this context are electric swivel drives with a drive motor.
The FSM is connected to the fail-safe control system FSC (Fail Safe Control) via a
Safe Ethernet connection.
The FSM is responsible for the mechanical operation of the actuators, such as air
control dampers and fuel flow controllers. The FSC transmits the nominal value for
the drive shaft (0 to 2000 digit corresponds to 0° to 90° / 120°) to the FSM via the
Safe Ethernet connection. The electronic components integrated in the FSM
positions the drive shaft to the given nominal value.
The position of the drive shaft is transferred to the FSC via a positive-fit fail-safe
potentiometer. In this way, a fail-safe fuel-air compound regulation is established.
In addition to the compound control system, the FSM may also be used for further
tasks in a firing system, e.g. for controlling the flue gas control damper.

Variants se@vis FSM 006 - 100 Servomotors

5 Variants
Different variants of FSMs are available.
The different variant characteristics are described in the following sections.
In addition, an example of the representation of the different variant characteristics
on the rating label is shown in "Identification on the FSM (Rating Label)" on
page 12.

5.1 Nominal Torque

Depending on the variant, the FSM is available with the following drive shaft
nominal torques:
Variant Nominal Torque

FSM 006 6 Nm

FSM 012 10 Nm

FSM 025 25 Nm

FSM 040 40 Nm

FSM 100 100 Nm

Table 2: Available nominal torques of the drive shaft

5.2 Rotation-angle Range

The FSM is optionally available with two rotation-angle ranges of the drive shaft:
Rotation-angle ranges of the drive shaft
Variant Initial value Final value Condition upon
(= 0 digit) (= 2000 digit) delivery

A 0° 90° 45°

B 0° 120° 60°

Table 3: Available rotation-angle ranges of the drive shaft

Potenti ometer

5.3 Air Conditioning Equipment

The FSMs 012, 025, 040 and 100 are optionally available with heating and a heat-
insulating double hood. This additional equipment is required when installing the
FSM outside a building or at temperatures below 0 °C.
An FSM with air conditioning equipment is identified with an "H" on the rating label.

Note
To avoid the formation of condensation, do not switch off the FSM power supply
(even during downtime).

5.4 Actuation Time

The actuation time specifies the time in seconds it takes the FSM to rotate the
drive shaft by the entire rotation angle from 0° to 90° / 120°.

Table 4: Actuation times of the various FSM variants

5.5 Field of Application

There are two different FSM variants designed for different fields of application:
 Use for land installations
 Use for marine plants (= marine variant)
An FSM of the marine variant is identified with an "M" on the rating label.
The power supply connector of the marine variant features additional pins for
emergency operation. These pins make it possible to move the FSM manually in
emergency operation without position electronics.

5.6 Position Indicator

For indicating the position, the FSM is optionally available with an additional
potentiometer. The position indicator is required for emergency operation in marine
plants if the burner is operated in the electronic compound system.
An FSM with an additional potentiometer is identified with a "P" on the rating label.
The potentiometer is connected using an M12 circular connector with external
thread and A-coding. The figure below shows the assignment of the M12 socket
with external thread for the potentiometer:

5.7 Identification on the FSM (Rating Label)

The variants described above are identified on the rating label of the FSM.
The figure below shows an example (here: FSM 025AH66MP) of the identification
of the different variants:
1 1 1

P Position indicator (here: P = potentiometer)
M Field of application (here: M = marine variant)
2
66 Actuation time [s] (here: 66 seconds)
H Air Conditioning Equipment (here: with air conditioning equipment)
A Variant of rotation angle (here: A = 0° to 90°)
3
025 Nominal torque [Nm] (here: 25 Nm)

1
The identification is omitted if the FSM is not equipped with this option.
2
The actuation time stated here is correct for a power frequency of 50 Hz.
3
For the FSM 012 the nominal torque is designated as „010“ (= 10 Nm)

se@vis FSM 006 - 100 Servomotors Maintenance

6 Maintenance
The FSM is maintenance-free.

7 Repair
The FSM is a safety-relevant component. It is therefore not permissible to repair or
replace components (parts) of the FSM. It must be replaced as a complete unit if it
is defective.
