Task 2 Based on poetry as a type of creative writing, I have chosen poem as my creative writing material. Another type of
creative writing material I have chosen is advertisement which falls under the category of Prose Non-Fiction. The poem I've
chosen is Mr. Nobody. This poem, which is of unknown origin, tells of the mischief in us when we were young. Fear of
punishment, we always refuse to admit anything, whether of commission or omission. So, this poem tells of a character called
Mr. Nobody who doesn't exist. He's just being mentioned as a fall guy, and he's going to have to take all the blame around the
house as if he really exists in every house. He did most of these nasty things. He also failed in his responsibility to do some
chores. These included not oiling the squeaky doors, leaving the blind unclosed that will fade the house curtains and leaving
his boots everywhere in the house. Interestingly, no one has ever seen Mr. Nobody. Yet he is described as a small and quiet
person. When we read this poem, we can reflect the childhood days where oftentimes we behave irresponsibly and like to
point fingers at others. We have yet to grow up, take responsibilities and admit our mistakes or own up to our failings. The
language used in this poem is simple and straightforward. Simple and straight. Every stanza comes to an end with Mr.
Nobody. Old expressions are used, prithee. Double meaning is used to create humor, such as Mr. Nobody refers to a person
or a non-person. Lying means not telling the truth or being found all over the place. The contrast or irony that no one ever
sees in his face, yet we all agree that he is the wrong maker. It is used to express sarcasm. This poem imbues the readers with
moral values. For example, we have to work together to look after the family home, and we have to be tidy all the time. The
next creative writing that I had chose is prose non-fiction which is an advertisement. The advertisement is about a room for
rent. A good advertisement should be brief. Having short and brief helps to retain the audience. In this advertisement, it has a
catchy caption and heading. For example, ‘House for Rent!’. Next element is, an advertisement must be true. Based on the
advertisement that I had chosen; the advertisement is true and legit. The advertisement copy is truthful. The use of “newly”
and “attached” are words that deemed to be very practical when convincing one into believing what being said is true and
trustworthy. The purpose of advertisement can be clearly seen in the text from the language used. The language used are
very persuasive to the point that it is able to influence others. In conclusion, creative writing helps to promote creativity and
helps to broaden the mind of the readers.
