2009-2011 Batch Recruiters Handbook

Thrown Out of The Box!!!

The Story of Boxy

This is my story. The story of a guy who lived inside a

box. The box was my comfort zone. I was working
and earning a decent pay. Perfect life you'd say! But
as my dreams grew, the box became suffocating. The
boundaries became restricting. I started struggling. I
couldn't take it any longer. I decided to choose a path
that was opposed, criticized but unorthodox. And as
soon as I did that, I found, I was thrown out of the
box.

Welcome to the story of MICA PGP CME students,

each of whom imbibes the struggle and ambitions of
Boxy. A glance through the placement brochure to
understand some out-of-the-box facts about these
MICA talents.

Boxy is known as Danbo in the real world and is a character conceptualized

by Amazon.com. We have utilized it as Boxy here only for educational purposes
in order to convey our theme and idea to various employers.

PGP CME is also about growth. Students in PGP CME
have utilized their skills and vision of innovation to
help organizations think beyond boundaries. CIIP
and Rural immersion are two programmes that gave
them a platform to do so.

The first two words of CIIP encapsulate the vibrant

and growth oriented nature of the internship.

C- Continuing: It is a unique format of internship

which involves students going for a 2 month long
internship and working 4 months offline for an
organization. Their ultimate goal is to study the
organization and present a viable business plan
report to them at the end of 6 months apart from
Outgrow
CIIP
doing offline assignments for them.

(Continuing Industry Internship I- Industry: Student have interned in highly reputed

Programme) organizations in the communications and media
industry like JWT, Essar, The Economist, Colors,

Rural Immersion:
Rural immersion is a one month long programme
aiming at exposing students to the cultural, ethnic
and market realities of the rural markets in India.
Rural immersion helps students grow internally
through their interactions with the rural folks and
environment. Some of the interesting rural projects
that students have undertaken this year include a
visit to a media institute (MSPICM) in Solan,
Himachal Pradesh and they formulated strategies to
promote media as a career and help in house
community radio of the institute in developing
content and branding the station and marketing
various institute run media like their own theater,
newspaper and community videos. There was a
Outgrow
Rural and Global Immersions
venture related immersion taken up by a couple of
students in which they went across various regions
of Gujarat, Rajasthan, North-East etc. for promoting
use of films and creativity in schools. This was
covered by Times of India.

Ooops. We have something to admit here. We won't
be printing hard copies of this placement brochure.

Out of Paper We believe our planet is as it is running out of paper

and as we become more and more tech savvy, we
can afford to send across brochures online. Right?
Do join us and Boxy in our Out of Paper endeavor.
Inconvenience caused due to absence of hard copies
is regretted.
