Because of its work against bacteria etc. dead skin (both human and
animal) is prevented from decaying, which means that the common
dust mite is starved, and consequently dies. This is of tremendous
benefit to animals that are house dust mite sensitive, or that generally
suffer from skin allergies.
Vetbed Gold has a gold backing, and is available in white, red and
grey.

In my referral practise I see a lot of animals with house dust mite allergies and I
recommend the use of Vetbed Gold for all such animals. Its hypoallergenic
nature, ease of cleaning and inhibitions to house dust mites makes it excellent
bedding for the dust mite allergic animal.
We used Vetbed Gold in our isolation units where we are taking in cats blindly –
good area to save it for. Gave us extra security to know that Vetbed Gold has
more protection against fungal spores etc. Difficult for the spores to grow and
thrive in the bedding.
In our situation there is always the fear of carrying germs from one animal to the
next, therefore we are very grateful for any product that will assist in the
reduction of the spread of bacterial and fungal infection
Used it for a GSD with badly callused elbows, thick pile of Vetbed Gold helped
immensely.
The Vetbed Gold washes up really well and the cats love it.
Comments from Trevor Turner B.Vet.Med.,MRCVS “Kennel & Cattery
Management” publication February 2001:
Having an itchy dog of my own, due to having dust mite allergy, in-house
conditions could not have been better! After two months I now have a virtually
non-itchy dog and weekly washing is now confined to the Vetbed (which has not
lost its efficacy) and not the dog!
At a price approximately 35-40% more than the original product, Vetbed Gold is,
in my view, well worth the extra cost and if it lasts half as long a the original
product, even if the efficiency of the Permafresh diminishes over time, I certainly
will not complain.
