Parents are the first teachers in a child’s life and play a pivotal role in shaping their adult
lives. With the advent of the family style where both the parents are at work, this parent-
child relationship has also faced a positive and negative impact. There is more
disposable income for the parents to spend on the child but less time to engage
effectively with their children.
Balancing work and parenting is a challenge that many working parents face today. At
Pathways Early Years, we understand this need and offer a state-of-the-art Day Care
Facility. Children are divided into age appropriate batches which ensures suitable mentoring
towards their social, emotional, physical and other areas of development. Music, Dance,
Physical Education, Art Enrichment and Drama are some of the highlights of the program.
The importance of the family in making and molding an individual on the one hand, and influencing
social groups and patterns on the other, has been recognized by social scientists
The roots of nuclearisation theory of the family can be traced back to the industrial revolution when
the process of modernization kicked-off.
It has moved from tradition-based extended structures to nuclear householdsAmong all the

the isolation of the nuclear family, the conjugal 3 bonds are greatly strengthened. Spouses are
heavily dependent on each other for emotional support
The primary responsibility of family is to ensure the continuation of society both
biologically, through procreation, and socially, through socialization.
Socialization is the process through which children acquire language, absorb the
accumulated knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and values of their culture; and learn the
social and interpersonal skills they need to function effectively in society. Through
socialization, children learn to be responsible and peaceful individuals and adapt certain
behaviour
They are the stepping stones for children to become social. They help the child to
inculcate the right attitude towards the world around him. Nuclear families provide the
flexibility to live our lives as we desire in today’s fast paced world. However, there always
remains a sense of nostalgia, about living together, in a big house, with all our near and
dear ones enjoying under one roof.
During the last quarter of the century there has been a radical change in the
social fabric of our country. There has been a gradual disintegration of the
joint family system and emergence of ‘nuclear family’. Reflecting the rise of
the nuclear families in urban India, these households are small in size—88
percent have three to four members with no senior citizens and just 11
percent have more than two children. This is mainly to build more financial
stability, making children less dependent and inclining them towards
personal and academic development
No one can deny the effect of modernization on different aspects of people` life.
