Terminology
Volume: Ss will be assessed on the quality and quantity of their volume during presentations. Presentations must be audible and
perfectly understood, as well as be as clear as possible to the audience.

Grammar: Ss will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate that they have mastered the use of varied sentence structures, verb
tenses, and other grammatical features such as subject-verb agreement.

Other elements that are considered include, but are not limited to the following:

 Connectors like transition words/phrases

 Irregular verbs
 Transitive vs. intransitive verbs
 Pronouns
 Verb tenses, etc.

Fluency: Ss will be assessed on how well they communicate logically, clearly, and without difficulty in English. It also refers to how
well they can focus on the message they want to convey—rather than the language they need to express. It takes into account the
use of cohesive features and discourse markers.

Pronunciation: Ss will be assessed on the quality of individual sounds, word stress, rhythm, and intonation of their speech.

Vocabulary: Ss will be assessed on their ability to use words appropriately (in the right context) and accurately (with the correct
meaning). Vocabulary will be taken from either the Picture Dictionary or Word by Word textbooks.

Work in Class: Ss will be assessed on the efficiency and quantity of work in class, as well as their ability to negotiate and arrive at
decisions when working in groups.
