They claim that by 2030, 80 percent of the world’s middle class population will be living in
developing countries. Globalization is basically just capitalism. Other countries would go to other
countries for businesses. They do it mainly for profit. To say that a capitalist system will survive when
there is 80 percent of the population of the developing countries would be impossible since capitalism
survives by exploitation of workers. The capitalist will exploit the proletariats. If there are more people
who are rich, they would not work on the proletariats jobs. Capitalism offers jobs to the proletariats.
They ire as many as they can. If there are only a few, mass productions or faster creations of
infrastructures and establishments would be impossible.
Sustained progress needs pro-poor policies because we have to be more inclusive in our
progress as a society, as the world. We also need significant investment in people’s capabilities because
inclusion of the poor, women, PWDs, and others are very much needed in our society. Pro-poor policies
sounded like a scam. It is meant for good intentions but there is a connotation that poor people would
stay poor. To be truly pro-poor is to not exploit them as workers. Economical growth will never be
enough to improve lives. That is why inclusiveness is important. We have to look at our problems and
address the root cause of these things. We have to identify the intersectionality of the problems we are
facing to properly eradicate our problems.
The idea of Human Development Index is that the human development does not just reduces
when they grow economically. The human development needs income in order for them to be able to
have a comfortable life. The idea of comfortable life would depend on which part of the class are we.
Some would need luxuries to consider their lives comfortable. Some would jut need a room and food in
their stomach to consider that they are indeed surviving. They may not be comfortable but at least they
are alive. Another thing that humans need in order for their development is education. Education should
be a right and not a privilege. Education should be necessary for everyone. It must depend on what a
community or collective needs in order for them to grow. For example, our country needs education
that will revolve around preserving our agricultural country instead of focusing on the idea that one
should end up in a corporate job in order to be called successful. It becomes problematic in a sense that
those companies that they work for would only cater the capitalists not our country. Lastly, health is
vital for human development. The people would be more productive if they are healthy. Health is vital
for the country as well because a community that is sick could easily spread throughout the country. For
example, the resurgence of polio in the Philippines due to the politicization of vaccines. Instead of
advocating for it, they demonized it. Now, there is a resurgence of sickness that was long extinct until
mass hysteria happened.
